1) Randy Webb Motorsport - with the S or without.

2) Randy Webb Motor Works ... It sounds good. Yes, it's long. but who actually types URL's after the first time (if at all)?

I wouldn't give up that URL so easily. Can you turn it into a classic mini enthusiast site with classic mini rally photos? If yes go for it. It would provide info for those who don't know about mini history.

Any lawyers out there?

Normally I'd be thinking 180 degress from where I'm at, but... has anyone considered some sort of joint suit - with other businesses? This bullying behavior needs to be stopped before it gains momentum. Why not find out how many folks livlihood's are being effected?

MINI/BMW need someone to open a can of WUP-*** on em.

Flying Brick Motor Works gets my vote for tongue-in-cheek URL!

I like Webb Motorsports if you are going to go beyond the MINI in this phase of your tuning career. If its MINI only, then I like the bulldog angle, like
Flying Bulldog Works
Bulldog Works
Bulldog Motorsport
Randys Pet Shop (!)
Webb Works

Sorry to hear the bimmer legals tagged you.

Good luck, Randy.

Bulldog Motorsport - that's great!

I tend to agree that RandyWebbMotorsport is long, and I do like the unintended reference to the british slang of Randy Motorsport.

I'm tired...

considering that you will be answering the phone a lot using your new dba, you might want to pick something easy to repeat a million times, is direct with few words and that you won't getting sick of. Do you really want to repeat your own name that much?

another suggestion is to pick something simple and not confusing that has only one spelling.

Finally, given the over use of mini-(whatever) names, you have the opportunity to be unique.

I like Webb Motors; I'd live wtih the possible Web misspellings and web mis-associations (internet)

It's sad to see this going on, I guess that I am lucky with Pilo Racing as the word Mini or Cooper is not in it... Mini really is going about this the wrong way, but if you have no choice, I like Webb Motorsport. sounds good, and can be abbreviated for phone calls and such.. Good luck with the name.

Condolencies on the blitzkreig

Bulldog Motorsport is great; Bulldog Motorsport Works would be the dog's bollocks . I suspect, however, it will not pass muster.

Cheers,

Joe

Kinda like "bulldog motorsports" myself.

Just have to ask if I can get the "official BMW Cooper bulldog" when I get the pulley/chip upgrade?

Cheers!

I can't believe BMW would win this one in court ...
Fighting "mini cooper" is one thing, but attacking just the word "mini" is surely not justifiable.
Why can't you just be a small motorsport outfit, Randy? small=mini. end of issue.

My three favorites, in order, thus far are:

- Webb Motorsports
- Randy Webb Motorsports
- Webb Motor Works

WM has the best logo/graphics potential, IMO, and is also the shortest (letter-wise, and rolling off the tongue).

RWM is the most personal.

WMW sounds the most serious/business oriented, but I wonder if people will think it's a take-off of the BWM abbreviation.

Note, however, that none of those exude "FUN", if that is important to you. (The various "Bulldog" suggestions fit the bill a bit better in that department.)

Go Bulldog Motorsport or better(?????) yet, Bulldog works? ] Edit: what about Works4bulldogs.com??? Might work!

Have stuffed bulldogs in the various mini colors as give aways (DS w/white spots, all pure silver, IB/w spots, PS/b spots, etc...) Just make sure they do not look like the Bulldog MINI uses in theri ads....

On second thought, this too will likely be shot down by the legal beagles (Bulldogs beat Beagles, any day!!!)

Randy Webb Motorsport

I don't think we've met yet randy, but I like the above.

I don't know if I would sign over the url so fast, btw. You own it, and people squat all the time and I believe it is first to the party in internet law. I think the lateness of their objection would carry a lot of weight too.

Don't forget to ask them for the costs associated with the change over (it's not like you did it and they hopped on it asap. They waited, and any judge would probably agree the longer they waited the more invested you became.) You'll need at LEAST 2 catalog mailings, full page ads in Roundel for at least 3-4 months, etc, new stationery, the new phone system (the old one won't say: Randy Webb Motorsport) and probably new t-shirts for every customer you've ever sold because now they are killing YOUR brand.

Good luck!

I think that witht he name-recognition you have here, you should go with Randy Webb Motorsports or Webb Motorsports. Everyone knows to "ask Randy!"

Good luck, and I look forward to ordering from you in the future, no matter what the company name is!

Here's a thought...

Go with RW-Motorsport and promote your new name by offering a free "performance" package to MINI owners with the initials "RW"
I would be willing to participate...

Richard Winemiller
"chefrichie"

Seriously...I like WebbMotorsport the best and the "bulldog" idea as well. Good luck!!!!

I don't understand any of this. BMW is not the owner of the word mini.
Will they be going after food companies for mini marshmallowes, or mini wheats, or mini oreos? And who is next Mini Madness Mini Mania or maybe Moss Mini? If they can keep thier current names so can you. This needs to stop keep your current name.

But before you do, you might wanna check out what the noun randy means on http://www.m-w.com Not quite the image you're going for, eh? Better not look at the definition of the adjective. Then it might have to be bumped from PG-13 to R or better

Randy -- this news is a pisser. So we KNOW that they have gone after Mark with MCO, Matt with CooperFlags and Mini-Stuff. It sure seems to me that they are cutting off vital organs to make a point.

For a name, how about RandyWebbWorks, with the shorthand RWW -- that will even convey the implied message that you are on a par with JCW. And they certainly can't say that the word "Works" is trademarked.

I did a quick name search and all the RandyWebbWorks.* names are available. WebbWorks.us is also out there.

But whatever you pick, we'll stick with our friends like you and Mark and Matt.

I like Randy Motorsport because:
1) It's short and easy to remember.
2) You gotta have Randy in the name because everyone recognizes your first name already and automatically associates it with MINI tuning.

Hey, what about Randy Motorsport Tuning or Randy Motorsport & Tuning?

Actually, I think BMW forcing more and more businesses to remove the MINI name will make it easier for people to remember the business name. There was becoming so many MINI-this, MINI-that business names that it was getting hard to differentiate everyone.

Good Luck Randy.
