Drivetrain Ignition Coil Pack
For the most part the best "Bang 4 U'r Buck" & "Most Reliable" combo has been:
Stock Coil
Upgraded Wires (I prefer the Magnacore)
Brisk or NGK plugs (NGK for me)
That being said, the stock wires are pretty good, I've gone back & forth with both sets of wires during different diagnostic sessions and the only problem I've had with the stock is that one of them was giving me some inconsistant current transfer above 7000 rpm or so, but that also is on a set with about 80,000 miles on them, otherwise according to my datalogs, there was really no difference in performance.
In my opinion the stock wires were designed / chosen to handle the current of the stock coil, the biggest benefit I can see to a better wire is more of their insulating factor than the larger core size. But yes if you do use an aftermarket coil (my choice would also be MSD) you def. want to use a better wire for the additional advertised current, otherwise your just bottlenecking the current & defeating the whole purpose of an upgrade to begin with, but I can't imagine the extra current really being needed unless you were running either W/M or Wet NOS, to possibly help with the burn.
