Thanks. Did any of you smell like a burning smell right after you installed the exhaust? Is that just because it is new?

No, I didn't. But maybe there were something faint that I didn't pay attention to. It's probably the protective grease that usually accompanies new hardware that was burning off

Those bolts to the cat were a ***** weren't they? The top one was even harder since you can't get any leverage between the heat shield and the pipe. Penetrating oil does wonders.

I also got that smell. Even some smoke, but it's all gone now. How do you like the short shifter?

My borla smelled the same way, also could see tiny bit of smoke. Its the oil that's buring off the system. it's normal and it will go away in afew days.

BTW: im switching to the borla sport! I have the regular borla now....

Ok, well at least I am not the only one who has the burning smell though.

I have a rattle when the car is at idle. I think it might be the heatshield or soemthing. It is definetely from the exhaust though. Looks like I am gonna have to put the thing back up on the stands...

Check you bolt at the Y split. I had to angle mine down because it looked too close to the underbody and was asking to rattle against it.

Mine had two rattles, one was the clamp bolts aft of the 'Y' rubbing on the shield under the battery box and the other was the tunnel heat shield touching the studs that go through the rubber mounts at the center support. I found both when I had to take the exhaust apart again for the B&M shifter installation.

Well I looked under the car when the rubbing occurs, and the resonator area is shaking, and is probably the source of the rattle.

Did any of you put the the gasket back in after the cat? I did, and I am not sure if that might be the problem, or if I just have to tighten things up.

You want to reuse the gasket, so you did it correctly. I would check again the clearance between the heat shield and the center support pins. There is only about a 1/4" clearance. I had to bend the sheild out a little right their. Also, did you get all the heat shield bolts back in? The one behind the header pipe and the one along the left side front of the heat shield? Also, did you torque the clamps? They should be 35 ft/lbs.

What clamps? You mean I have to go buy a torque wrench? Blah. I am planning on putting the car back up on the stands tonight, so we will see how she goes.

Nah, you don't really need a torque wrench but my point was, be sure to get them tight. my torque wrench was long and it took alot of effort to get it to 35lbs laying on my back. Try and wiggle the system with your hands to see if you can move it any or hear/see it hitting anything. Good luck!
