JUST INSTALLED TSW ENGINE DAMPER...NICE!!!

I just installed my new TSW engine damper and it was worth ever penny. The install only took about 30 minutes. The MINI shifts MUCH smoother and it feels like the power is right there once you shift. NICE mod for not much money at all. I don't feel any extra vibration and the extra bling under the hood is nice, too.

Next on the list are the H&R springs to compliment the rear sway bar I installed last weekend. They are in the mail...

Got it from Texas Speedwerks for $124.00. The quality is second to none. It's not some cheap sheet metal. Nice sturdy brackets and a quality damper. Good install instructions, too. Here is the link:

anyone know what a clunck after install might mean,
too loose or too tight?

too loose, do you know what version you have? What color is the body of the damper?

Might also need this kit, http://www.txwerks.com/servlet/Detail?no=154

Pretty sure it's version 1, pale red in color, sorta metallic.
Was a gift ( damper only ) so I
bought the late braket kit on advice from TSW, for 05 MCS.
install went well but with many adjustments still hear a chunk or clunk.
will begin tightening.
thanks

I would be wary of engine dampers..

I've had engine dampers on two vehicles of mine..

EVO IX: I bought a high price $250 JDM piece, Stillway Engine Damper. Lightweight forged aluminum brackets. I snapped those brackets in 4 months.

Ion Redline: I had a Weapon-R damper. I snapped the steel brackets once and blew the bushing in the damper.

I finally bought a lower engine mount & bushing for the EVO and it's more firm than the engine damper. Much cheaper too!

I can understand dL EVO's concern. The TSW Damper is now on it's 3rd version and getting better each time. The current TSW damper is the strongest, most effective one with the least amount of neg vibrations.

The urethane engine mounts also work well and make sense there 75K plus too.

The older, colored, TSW Dampers do need some TLC once a year to work best. I do not know of any out right failures of the product.

I dont mean to take over your thread but I have a question.

I just had the rightside motor mount fail. So after I replace the mount will installing a engine damper prevent the mount from failing again?

Thanks

^ Installing the damper will lessen the strain on your motor mounts.

"prevent" sorry it won't, it "may" give you more miles on the OEM mount. But there is Good News, TSW is designing an all new motor mount for the leaky OEM unit. Keep an eye out for more details soon.

Any idea when this is going to happen? I kind of need a new one ASAP.

Thanks

Oooooh that's good to know as the OEM unit is fairly pricey no?? Looking forward to picking up a damper too in the next few months....very interested to feel the difference.
