How can I make my car a little louder. I have the 2.5" Alta Sportone. When I look under the car at the system I see a canister that is approximately where your feet are when you sit in the car. Is this the resonator? Can it be removed without any performance loss?

I do not see/expect any performance loss. Maybe even a gain as exhaust gas velocity will be improved using a straight pipe and due to the weight reduction. Yea, that will make it louder and maybe a bit too much at full throttle. You may want to consider a header if you still want more, you'll gain some real HP/TQ at the same time.

 

are you talking about the catalytic converter?

 

it's the resonator, do as Ed said and get a header first. Real gains, more noise where it counts. if you never planned on a header then.....

 

i have the same exhaust as you , it is loud now ..... mine is very loud at high rpm. i also have a obx header , but it made little diffrence in loudness.
you want it loud , fold down your back seats

 

I replace the cat with a high flow resonator and have the OBX header - I am now trying to quite it down.... too loud fo me.
