Drivetrain Fastest M45 MCS in the World!!
Fastest M45 MCS in the World!!
Yesterday at Santa Pod my car broke the 1/4 mile record by crossing the finish line in 105.60 mph beating the previous record of 105.50 mph.
This record was previously set by an M45 Mini Cooper S in the US without the use of NOS and we knew it would be hard to beat, but thanks to the right mixture of RMW parts, 1320autos know-how and a certain little green speed machine we managed to finally beat it.
So what were the stats? Firstly the times:
1/4 Mile:
60ft: 2.3694
330ft: 6.0222
1/8 MPH: 83.59
1/8 ET: 11.4771
1/4 Mile ET: 13.6859
1/4 Mile MPH: 105.60
0-60: 5.6 seconds
0-100: 12.6 seconds
Previous 1/4 Mile Times:
10/05/2008 - 13.6877 @ 105.01 mph
19/04/2008 - 13.8435 @ 105.16 mph
The car:
2003 Mini Cooper S BRG - 44k Miles
RMW Head
RMW 440c Injectors
1320 Camshaft
GRS Intercooler
RMW/1320 Custom Remap
Alta V2 CAI
Alta V2 17% Pulley
Janspeed Manifold
Borla Exhaust (Single exit Cooper version)
NGK Spark Plugs
RMW Oil Sump Baffle
Cross Coilover Suspension
Helix Control Arms
AP Racing Brakes
Stock Clutch (On the car since new)
No Diff
Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 Alloys
Yokohama Parada Spec II Tyres (205/40/17)
Tesco 99 Fuel (No additives or NOS)
Std OEM Oil and Fluids
Considering the car doesn't have a diff and is still putting all that power down through the stock clutch IMO it's a testament to what can be achieved by the right combination of performance parts.
Big thanks as ever go to Paul & Jan at 1320/RMW for getting the performance parts list just right and to Chris @1320 for fitting them all with such meticulous relish.

Great Job Paul,
I knew you could do it!
Now you just have to throw the clutch in that car and make it run the time!
Hopefully that won't take 2 years to take down... nudge nudge...
My record should easily fall one the clutch goes in!!!
being that it is summer time, I might start looking for a car to build again to reset the record. That way I have the summer to build that car and actually run the car in cooler weather (i.e not 104 degrees at night)
well done Paul

Now that you are all famous and have taken all of my popularity, press and poparatzi how am I ever going to become famous again. Like we discussed on the phone yesterday, I think your the man for the job. Good luck getting groceries, and even going out to collect your mail. My best advice that I can pass along in regards to the huge fame and photo ops at every moment is... wear underwear
Thanks everyone... hope to see this record go again soon as we've got some seriously powerful Mini's being launched (in more ways than one) over here shortly... be good to see the record flitting back and forth between the US & UK... Strip Wars!
