Charlotte, NC pulley install??

There is seller in Rock Hill, SC selling Alta 15% pulleys. Though I'm mechanically able to install the pulley myself, I simply don't have the time.

Does anyone know of a shop in the Charlotte, NC area that can do the install CORRECTLY? I don't want nor will tolerate butchers.

Any members looking to trade out some paintwork perhaps?

Thanks guys,

Mark

It's a bit of a drive but from what I'm told Dan is a trusted MINI mechanic with a great reputation!

One quick question though and I know this has been beat to death but a 15% pulley is the way to go, right? I've read and read and read posts about 11% and 15% pulleys.

Obviously since it seems like 90% of guys that have a changed pulley uses 15%, it must be worth it.

Thanks,

Mark

Really depends on what you want out of it. The 15% for me is a better track, canyon carving choice where the higher ones are more for stoplight to stoplight drag type of driving. This is just my 2 cents as this has been debated endlessly. Just talk to Dan and ask him what size he thinks is right for you and you will be pleased with the result!

Thanks, much appreciated. I do realize it has been beat to death and I will ask Dan. My choices are the 11 and 15 only. Any higher than that, I just don't need it.

I was actually more concerned about warranty issues. I bought an extended warranty (which those companies are a rip off in themselves) for my H2.

When I installed the supercharger and didn't mention it to them, the first time I had an electrical issue (the sunroof motor needed replacing) They denied everything. (they also found out the sunroof is 1600 bucks which is why they freaked, I'm sure.)

Anyway, I'll call the dealer and get their feel for it. Since 15% seems pretty common, they'll probably only void anything they feel the pulley itself may be contributed to the failure of a part. (ie. supercharger, etc)

Thanks again, I'll check with Dan.

The dealership over in greenville is very very mod friendly. So even though it's a hike to get over there they will take care of you pretty much no matter what you have on your car (within reason).

They see all sorts mini come out of dave@ddm's shop so they are used to oddball mini's.

Another +1 for Dan. It's worth the drive just to hang out with him and talk MINIs.

Having said that, I have a pulley sitting in my garage waiting to be installed (trying to save money by doing it myself). . . so if you change your mind and decide to do it yourself, I say we shake the bushes and try to put together a pulley mod party in charlotte (I have 2 car garage and driveway for 2 to 3 more) and a grill and plenty of beer coolers.
