Great quote about UNICHIP, by the way.... I enjoy having the software engineers 40 minutes from my house, not in South Africa where I can't hurt them if they hurt my car!

We logged timing as its part of the settings adjusted on the ECU image, but not AFR. John would have to get back to me regarding timing, I'll be seeing him today so I'll ask where he set it to, but AFR was consistent from low 11's or high 10's at the start of the run to mid 9's at the end of the run - not representative of nitrous being digested as runs with the nitrous being sprayed and without demonstrated the exact same AFR!

Mmmm sounds like the ecu is reacting the same way as if the nitrous is going in the normal way as well.

In 2nd 3rd 4th it will be reading 10.0 the lowest mine goes and has wound the timing right back the lowest it can, which is good for me.

The one mishap I had with the fuel solenoid getting blocked even the stock 330s nearly kept up with the 100 shot I was spraying it.

Not sure if you meant that the nitrous is being sprayed "the normal way" onto the intercooler or if you meant "the normal way" of it being ingested into the intake - again, its late, I'm tired, just won another car show today, and can't think straight.

Talked to the tuner about timing today, said it was going between 16 and 15 degrees, not like it used to before we could SET timing to stay where we wanted it and would shoot up causing misfires and knock at higher RPM on the dyno --- before nitrous and before he cracked into the ECU. Now that it is set where he wants it, it doesn't go any higher or lower then what he tells it to.

Drove the car today with my Innovate Motorsports wideband displaying the correct AFR in the car [FINALLY!!!!!!!!] instead of having to use a stand-alone wideband and the results are still consistent. Car goes from low 11's to high 9's during wide open throttle depending on gear and conditions and blah blah blah. Nothing's changing, nitrous isn't affecting the system, still getting great, managed power! My "monster image" is nearing completion I was told today and that means I'll have a reliable car with 250whp or more - we'll be doing a few more tests to prevent nitrous being ingested, any suggestions that can be offered so I don't leave out anything? Want me to bring my DVD-quality video camera I don't know how to use as evidence?

Mike,

Its intresting that it does sound that the ecu is behaving exactly like you spraying the nitrous in the normal, i,e in the intake manifold.

The question is is the CAI getting some and allowing it in that way or is the IC and inlet manifold is getting so cold that the IAT temp is so low thus reacting like my ecu does when spraying the nitrous the normal way.

Which ever way you look at it it sounds like you're enjoying your new found power adder

Dont forget with A/Fs like that you could be washing the bores, also its a common thing in anitrous engine that when its that rich sometimes it will ignite in the rings and melt from the ring outwards.

I am not new to the tuning world. I am relatively new to the Mini world, having had my car for only a year or so, though. That being said, I have a fairly good grasp on the concepts of tuning. Running 440cc injectors at that rich a fuel mixture kind of negates the ability to be making that kind of power, no?Doing some very quick calculations, using a .6 BSCF, and 40 lb/hr injectors (440cc/hr), wouldn't this engine be capable of approximately 267 hp at the crank. Assuming a 14% drivetrain loss, we are talking about 230hp to the wheels, correct?I have another comment about the high torque number relative to the hp number. If one stopped measuring at 5500RPM, what would the numbers look like?Like I said, I am somewhat new here, but I have read this thread with some interest, because if you are making these kinds of numbers, it is a very good thing for all of us. Please continue to do some research, so that all of us may learn and make power.
