Need HELP before tune
If I want 205 -210 FWHP to at least match JCW, do I need 380 cc injectors or good cat back exhaust or both? or will RMW tune bring me to that number based on my current mods alone. Please advise as I need to decide before tune should our plan in the PNW push through to have Jan tune our cars.
Also, what's the install time and $ for injectors? My dealer is charging $165 to install.
Thanks!
Ed

A proper exhaust and header would work wonders, I'm not sure if you would get up to 215-220 whp with just a header, exhaust, and tune though. The stock head and header are major restrictions.
If you know how to take off your intercooler you can pretty much figure out how to yank the injectors. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes for any skilled mechanic that's at all familiar with MINI's. Pull off the IC, unscrew the fuel rail, pull the cap off the purge valve, bleed it, and yank them. Careful not to get any dirt on the ports, as they clog easily. It's not that hard.

jan tuned my car to just short of 200whp with just a 15%, cai and one-ball. There was more to be had (maybe 3-5 hp... you'd have to ask jan to be sure) but my injectors fell flat on their face (read: stock injectors).
If you were to have jan tune your car with a pully, catback, injectors and airbox of some sort and injectors, i'd put money down that you would be darn close to the 200whp or over it (read: more then likely) mark. Which is quite a bit more then the jcw package actually provides from the factory. Breaking 200whp seems to be a total crap shoot. If you've got a strong car to begin with then there is a chance i guess... but it's quite remote. one of those luck of the draw situations, unless you add headwork and a real exhaust to the mix.. then it's a gaurentee..
At any rate jans tune netted me about 20whp and 15tq. Just have him go at it with teh basics and I'd bet you'll be happy with the result.
P.S. Change your belt and check your car for boost leaks to the best of your ability prior to jan working on your car... it will save you both time.

20 WHP at 12% drivetrain loss is 25 FHP. Even if mine is 04, I should get to my objective of 205 - 210 FHP without injectors then.
. ..maybe even more if mine has a good starting base.

Jan tuned a MINI here in Michigan with 15% CIA and Exhaust = 206.5 whp @7000 rpm and 178 ft/lbs/tq @ 4300 rpm every engine is not the same

I figured FWHP was "Front Wheel HP". flywheel HP is typically expressed as BHP.

I would say do all or most of your modding before the tune that we are scheduling in June in your area. It would be ideal. Sounds like you need to start with exhaust and possibly a header or a precat delete which I recommend if its your daily driver. I would say match the 380/400cc injectors of JCW car because Jan will be able to tune your car for them. They are fairly easy to install. If your not comfortable changing them yourself, find a friend to help with general mechanic knowledge. After those mods, Im not sure what would happen if you added more after an RMW tune...
That's what I tried to do in the beginning create a JCW car with less money. Then it became a sickness where I always want more...

Stock JCW are dynod at what HP / Tq numbers? Power is addictive but my plan is firm to match JCW 210 BHP or even exceed it by few HP. I do not really plan to track my car, just some spirited driving.
Jan said that unless it is > 15% pulley or for track race, 380cc injector is a recommended. More inputs from NAMers will be appreciated.

Base run (Stock): 185.3whp @ +/-6800 rpm /165.4 tq @ 5000 rpm
RMW Tune(After):206.7whp @ 7316 rpm / 172.7 tq @ 3600 rpm
