Drivetrain big heads and small injectors
big heads and small injectors
is any one running succesfully a big valved head on std injectors, the debate seems to be between jcw 380 or bosch 440 but to get benifits of bigger injectors will need a tune as well and my tuning budget is looking a little thin
I have decided to go for head for now , and janspeed 4-1 manifold
so can i run std injectors till my wallet catches up? or will i have issues
also would a cam be a good idea now or later?
currently 207whp [242 @ fly]
july 05 build mcs- uk GTT220+ kit inc optimised bypass valve + high temp iridium sparkplugs + GTT 17%supercharger pulley + shorter 'stickier' drive belt + GTT twin bearing idler pulley. + GTT 'cold ram' induction kit
+ GTT uprated intercooler fitted
+ milltec cat back
nb, still using std manifold, std map and injectors, ie no other performance mods...

Keep in mind that added power is not the only main goal, suspension and transmission upgrades to match will also help everything.
What are your suspension upgrades or goals?
Coilovers, adjustable (TSW!) camber plates, adjustable rear lower control arms, adjustable anti-roll bars, aggressive alignment, etc. Extreme performance tires?
What are your transmission upgrades or goals? Since wheelspin defeats any added power are you looking at a Quaife? Do you have factory LSD?
Any light flywheel or upgraded clutch?
When adding the upgraded cylinder heads many will consider upgrading the cam due to labor considerations. I'd look at the RMW cam before getting the header. stock injectors will work but if you do RMW tune then 440cc injectors is recommended/required for best results.
the car is 99% street with a couple of track days per year ss+ suspension with eibach 30mm lowering springs, looking at adj 20mm rear sway bar and possible fsd and ss springs again,
ate 4 pot bbk helps slow things down on 215/17/40 ZZ3 avon tyres,
not after 260+ whp, and to be honest only ever see redline on a track day anyway, so not considering 7500+ rpm higher limit
185lbs peak but only at about 6,000
so big valved head was the idea to move power band down the rev range a little and avoid leaning out at 7,000 rpm, also perhaps a good side effect would be a few more mpg $10.00 a gallon this side of the world
thought that a more radical cam might undermine things unless i went with the bigger injectors [440] and tune to tie everything up together
open to suggestions
