Alta Vs. M7 Intakes!?!?

Hey Everyone,

I have a question about performance. Out of these two intakes. Does anyone know which one would give me the best performance?? The Alta intake lists HP gains but the M7 intake doesn't list anything about horsepower gain...just how ram air is good for the car...well..duh!! Can anyone help?? Thanks, Midget Mobile.

This has been beaten to death but the short answer is go with Alta.

FYI the proper way to deal with posting in the wrong forum is to use the "Report Post" function on the forum. A mod will move it for you. Recreating the thread in another part of the forum usually causes clutter and confusion .

M7 will look cool and Alta will give you 3hp

M7 may give you power or may not but independent dyno tests show the alta intake will give you 3HP and sound cool

The M7 looks nice, but at twice the cost is it worth it? That decision is up to you, your budget, and what you want. I have the Alta intake and am very happy with its performance gains, sounds, and appearance (plus the money I saved!) FWIW the scoop on your car (if it's not already) can be opened to provide more cold air to the Alta intake, even though there is no funnel thing.

We will debuting a second less expensive intake for the R - 56 at AMVIV next weekend as well as 20 other fresh products and will post pics ect. at that time . If you can afford to wait until then you may be glad you did.

That is funny!
(and true)

I agree the results simply speak for themselves. Our dyno results, match those that are independent, no stress with any fitment concerns, etc. etc. etc.

Plus coming up we have a cold air bath add on for the system as well.

Advantage ALTA!

Seriously, PLEASE let me know how I can help further!

I suppose this is a reminder for people to bring plenty of "impulse funds" to AMVIV. (I probably should as well)

As I mentioned earlier we had something in the works for AMVIV. Here is a quick snap shot of both the Super AGS intake as well as the Turbo heat shield. More info to follow .

that looks like something someone mentioned from the DYI CAI... switch the turbo inlet with the fresh air inlet and use the stock filter without the top half of the box...

talk about surface area

We actually took one apart and stretched the pleats out to see just how much there really was. We will do up a photo shortly to show you as you would never beleive it

any chance we can see this at the track?
I am sure many of the NAMer's would love to see what all of this incredible engineering does....

The filter, even with the absense of the part that is attached in the hood, seems very nice.
I have major concerns about the heat shield.
I think that it will protect the hood and etc. but will maintain the high temperatures to the turbine for much longer after the car stops.
Like that isolating all the high temperatures there and not let the turbine get cold.

Thanks for noticing and the fine compliment, we appreciate it We try to get to the track as time permits but with releasing 21 new products in the last few weeks time has been a rare commodity. This particular car has been to the track two times already which is what brought about the need for the heat shield. We had a droopy scoop and that is not a good thing LOL. We have found that track testing is better done in a REAL racing environment on a real race car . Open track days are helpful but not as much as the real thing. As a matter of fact a M7 product was the first part of a Mini to cross the finish line in a professional race and get a podium finish in the US. We have some aero tested pieces on Bob Sheer's US Touring car and will continue to test new products in the future . Again thanks for the nice words and see you around

I'm sure the front mount intercooler and tuning that Hubie did had nothing to do with it

but... feel free to come to the track day and show your stuff.... times don't lie

Absolutly it all adds up. I think the biggest factor in Bob's program though is his driving ability. The parts are all important but he really knows how to get a car around the track. In any event thanks for keeping the thread active but perhaps we should get it back on topic We will be posting a picture in the next couple of days that I think everyone should find interesting.

Thanks again

Just out of curiosity, how does this setup sound vs. stock? Is the noise controllable?

We like to keep things active, it's the only way to get to the bottom of it
What most would find interesting is someone taking the M7 car to the track with the diffuser on and then running it with it off on the same day.

If the R-53 version comes to life as I expect there will be two race cars undergoing that very test.

Ok I have the pictures of the " exploded " filter as promised. Now in going with the theory that the more filter area you have the easier it is for you to have flow but still keep it clean we present the Super AGS .

Randy

Yes that really is 126 inches

Longer than the car and its not fully expanded .
