Drivetrain Miltek resonator

Miltek resonator
I'm curious about how one would know a resonator has gone bad. I've seen posted here about several people with Miltek's which had to have the resonator replaced. Mine obviously is out of warranty with over 30k miles.
The reason I ask is because for the last few months it seems my exhaust has become louder. Not bad at all just louder. Is this a sign of a bad resonator? Also, does a bad one do anything to performance? I'm thinking if it is bad then I may just cut it off and try the exhaust for a while without it to listen how it sounds. Has anyone run a Miltek without a resonator?

When the resonator on my Borla exhaust when bad, the plates inside the resonator came loose and started making rattling noises. The Borla exhaust was replaced under the million mile warranty. On my current MCS, I have a Milltek. The Milltek has a lifetime warranty. From the Milltek Website:
"As long as you are the original purchaser, cat-back exhaust systems are covered by a lifetime anti-corrosion and manufacturing defect warranty...All warranty cases should be dealt with by the Milltek appointed distributor from whom you purchased the system. However, if you are dissatisfied with the service of your distributor in response to your claim, you can contact us directly by emailing us at techsupport@millteksport.com."
