I doubt anyone can live with out one of those
Check with Lucky Dog garage i know a while ago people were shipping their ECU's to them with a full parts list and getting a tune. Granted it's not as good as getting your car on the dyno but it's a tune none the less. And it was still claimed to be better than a unichip.
Last time I spoke w/ John - he wasn't really excited about doing it (but one should call John).
This is one area in which I think John and Jan would agree
- sending your ECU to either to flash doesn't permit either one to custom tune which is what they are really all about. The whole point of a custom tune is "confirmation" and by sending them an ECU; they are denied the ability to tweak and confirm so by default they need error on the conservative side. While dyno numbers are great - the real test of a tune is daily drive ability. The LDG event in Florida produced crappy numbers BUT the resulting drive ability was apparent to all. Jan has avoided a mistake we made (i.e. dyno) by sticking w/ a dyno he knows well. While I have no first hand experience w/ a Jan tune from what I have been able to gather, he is delivering enhanced drive ability and not just numbers.
BUT at the end of the day, if I could not get a custom tune, I would default to sending my ECU to either one over the others. At the same time when I joined NAM - just a few years ago - 200hp was a major threshold and today its a given. SO while it maybe hard to wait, things such as tuning have ramped up very fast in a short period of time and can only get better.
not quite sure what you mean but let me break it down for you:::::
tuning from remote is no different from a tune when I am present
sending your ECU to someone to be "flashed" is no where as good as the above

Any updates on this remote tune?
Am very interested!
Best,
T.
Jan, i just hope your ready for 1 million+ mini owners knocking down your door for a remote custom tune, with the numbers your making on these cars i dont think anyone would look anywhere else for tuning. i know as soon as you can do this remote tuning i'll be sending my ecu to you
