Drivetrain quieting aftermarket exhaust
My suggestion would be to take measurements for yourself, because although a few have successfully mounted the 6 inch diameter resonator, your angle may not be the same. With an OEM header and middle hangers a six inch would kiss the top of the heat shield on my vehicle. I have a five inch I’ve test fit with and I bent the heat shield upwards to provide more headroom. When the motor is gunned, the exhaust pipe moves upwards, so I feel more comfortable with extra space. This isn’t a good photo but the 5.5 inch wide Hushpower had only about 3/8ths clearance on each side.

The 18 inch overall I showed earlier only marginally reduced volume; however there was an improvement in tone or sound quality on my one-ball. When I added a 12 inch overall, making two working in tandem, sound levels were softened a bit. If your pipe is 2.5, that size resonator (3.5 OD) will not work.

Since you goal is to suppress noise volume at idle and low RPM, you can make do with a smaller resonator.

in a few years you will feel totally different when you realize you don't like cops and tickets....(loud exhaust = gateway to engine mod fix it tickets)
Keep in mind that the addition of a header can make everything much, much louder. Lots of people here have complained their header made a Milltek (perhaps the most tame sounding aftermarket exhaust) just too freakin' loud. Mine even made a JCW (the quietest exhaust of all, even quieter than stock inside the car) intolerably loud.
So it may be reasonable to select a quiet resonator now, with the expectation of things getting louder again once you move out and get a header
