Drivetrain Sound Generator Removal For CAI Install
im going to rehash an older thread to ask another question relating to this. i installed the alta CIA 8 months ago and i left the noise generator connected, BUT since there is no clearance its disconnected from the firewall and kind of hanging there. thats all fine and sometimes i hear a rattling. my MAIN CONCERN or QUESTION is that it being disconnected from the firewall like that and just hanging, is there any possible danger to the turbo or engine from moisture or water or anything getting inside the open tube that should be connected to the firewall? any possible damage over time because of this?
Please clarify, so we can all help you better!
Then you are a-ok! Let me know if i can ever help further!
Hi Adam,
After being occupied by other distractions, I finally got to install Topper’s CAI on Sunday afternoon. Now the underhood red bling is complete: it looks great, sounds great, and feels great! And the Turbo Inlet Hose fit-up that I was less than totally happy with has taken care of itself with its connection to the ALTA CAI.
Per instructions, I removed and plugged the sound generator branch, and the only way I could disconnect the sound generator was to first completely remove the Hot Side Boost Tube. Thought I would never have to deal with that thing again, but its removal and reinstallation (this time with gloves!!!) was a piece of cake! I have not had any CEL issues.
Topper and I are very happy. Thank you, Adam.
