OBX Exhaust

Hey guys,

Seen an OBX Exhaust and just wondering if anyone has tried it at all. It costs $275 and is all SS. Compared to the Magnaflow which is $790 and it too is all SS. They both come with a Lifetime Warranty so I am just wondering why the price difference? Anybodies thoughts on this would be great

Well, the OBX catback is $200 shipped on ebay plus the $200 shipped from the same. You still need to add some piping and have the exhaust shop weld everything up...

OBX is a cheap-o brand that makes knockoffs of other more expensive brands. Some people have found fit and finish issues with some OBX products. Many other people are perfectly happy with them. I went with another sub-$300 catback exhaust and have had fitment issues, but couldn't justify the $800+ of some brands. I'll probably buy an OBX header in the near future.

All depends on what you're willing to spend. You PROBABLY won't be disappointed with the OBX catback, but hopefully someone with experience with them will chime in.

I went with OBX (ceramic coated it) and yes, it had a small flange angle issue at the Cat Conv joint, but it may have taken another 20 minutes of fabrication to match the angle on the custom hi-flow cat and move on. Been on for 1500 miles without any issues.

By the way, I highly recommend getting a hi-flow cat when installing a header. The stock cat is very restrictive and cuts the header's performance advantage dramatically. Money well spent all around .

A high flow Magnaflow cat for $65 will suffice...

I'm running both the OBX header and Catback. You should checkout product reviews and do a "obx catback" search because I posted on both.

But in SUM -

1) its not a true Catback because you reuse the stock center pipe.
2) quality is very good.
3) loud when on the throttle - no drone when cruising.
4) cheap hardware - I upgraded to SS clamps and recommend.
5) since it comes in numerous pieces - install can be finicky but at the same time allows for perfect alignment. Having 4 hands align while bolting up was very helpful.

I've had it know for several years and it has mellowed nicely (either that or I am just use to the sound ).

The price point allows for the purchase of the header (200.00) and catback (299.00) = 500 bucks, less than most just catback systems.

do the searches and if you have additional questions drop me a pm.

I have yet seen any data that confirms this. Many NAM members run OBX header w/ stock cat - myself included. If you are building a max HP mini then I would agree on a high flow cat but if you are building a level 1 moded mini (basics pulley, cai & catback) - I tend to believe that the stock cat has the capacity but I have no data to support this. HOWEVER Helix sells the obx header w/ stock cat and would be a knowledgeable person to speak with regarding this subject.

I have an OBX header, but not cat-back. The quality was fine on the header, but I got it through Helix already ceramic coated and with a Cat. Conv. already installed. I've been pleased so far!!

It is paired with a Milltek catback, and I'm very happy with the sound and the performance (in spite of the OEM cat). From what I read at the time, it seemed to me that the OEM "pre-Cat" (intended to reduce start-up emissions in cold climates, was my understanding) was more of a restriction problem with the OEM system than the "main" Cat. My setup deletd the OEM pre-Cat.
