alta short shifter question

im looking at getting a short shifter and was wondering about the feel. Ive driven quiet a few cars and the shifters that have really stuck out at me are the ones in 350z's and mx5 (miatas), does this shifter offer that kind of "feel" are the throws noticeable shorter and smoother?

I think you will find that the Alta will get you closer to that feel you are looking for. Are not the 350z and the mx5 all mechanical linkage? Being the Mini is cable it will always be a little less 'clicky'. I loved my Alta, but also made an extension for it to raise up the **** closer to the steering wheel.

The ALTA shifter will be "notchier" than the OEM shifter by a LOT. It gives a far more positive feel. I have owned both a 350Z and MX5 and I would say this is similar but not identical. The ALTA shifter will be slightly firmer, but similar notchiness. PLUS you can adjust the level of firmness based on throw length. Which is EZ to adjust.

Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help further.

You might e-mail John.herring@altaminiperformance.com He has one of our test / show mules on the showroom floor, with the kit in it. Might be able to take a quick video for you?

Ive got this video from a few years back at an HPDE. Not a whole lot'a shifting, plus it has my extension on it. But I do agree with Adam, it's a very nice improvment from stock and feels quite notchy.
Ummm..... for sale maybe if your interested. It's for an 03.
