Question, about getting more air into the BMP Intake, wanted to check with
those on this board, I was told that drilling holes in the wall behind the BMP intake
which leads up to the vent under the windsheild would allow more air into
the BMP Intake, thus better.

But what about water getting into the filter? like when washing or heavy rain.

Is this something others have done? trying to make sure I dont make a mistake.

I have heard some talk about water getting in there after cutting holes in the plastic divider. Probably the biggest problem with BMP though is that it is not completely sealed off from the engine comparment so it sucks hot air in.

No such problems with water with my mod. Instead of drilling as many air holes I drilled only a row of 2 inch holes highest on the backwall so some air can get in but not enough so if the car got caught in a really heavy downpour and got flooded a bit the lower backwall would keep any water out of the airbox. It rains really heavy sometimes where I drive.

One note-when racing this mod may not be considered legal as being a stock airbox.

Thanks everyone, I just wanted to make sure others have done this, I think I may start with a few at the top and see how that works. Again, thanks for the input.

I wouldn't worry about water getting in...do you realize how much water your car would have to suck in to actually do damage...cause it's a lot!

Which is exactly why you cut the holes to allow an unrestricted path for fresh cool air and therefore reduce the downside to the BMP.

Besides, a little water whould actually help!! No I haven't had a drop.

Darxar:

You do know about the brake lines behind the divider, right? If you're not pulling it put something metal as a backplate before drilling! (Old license plate, which is flexible enough to get back there, worked well.)

Hay for a novice not bad getting all that out, but the because I dont want to
get the whole bar off(just raise it) I am going to use the "Lisense Plate" method
and put one behind the back wall. I will use dremal to cut the notching, not sure
of the pattern yet, but I want to be different so no circles. anyway I have some
nologys to install tonight so I will post pic's off all and give a review of how it
all went. took me 20 min to get to this point. I felt good, got it back on and
drove to make sure everything was set. felt fine.

The black intercooler part on top of the super charger? ALTA makes one that is bigger and blows a mist over the top, would putting a bigger ALTA one and not
doing the mist part still help, the ALTA one looks cool! ?

Ok, Pic's in the morning, the holes are not very pretty, but with a bremal its not as
good looking as Randys. I do notice a bit more wine of the intake, the surge or YoYo which was not very bad is all but gone, not sure if this is just the extra 3 holes
in the back wall which feed into my intake or the Nology hotwires, which were very easy to install. the idle seems a little higher, and the peddal seems more responsive, again, dont know if its the nology's or the holes in the back wall, but my car is a bit different. I will play with it some more, pic's in the morning, this was very easy, even for a novice like me. btw, it takes a while for that dam block to cool off burnt my fingers on the ground bolts, Ouch
