Stock R56 intercooler

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I have a classic Mini with a turbo and am interested in fitting the stock R56 intercooler to it.

Does anyone have some measurements on the intercooler?

Does anyone want to sell their stock intercooler who upgraded to the Alta?

Thanks for the measurements. It should fit, but will need to measure or mock up to be sure.

wayne, nice remote setu there mate. what turbo are you running?? whats the spool like?? also what engine is it on??

have you mesured the intake temps yet?? i kknow the STS style products often get away without intercoolers on low boost setups as the shear length of piping helps get rid of the heat.

thanks CHris.

The turbo is a Garrett GT15.
Getting 5psi of boost by about 3300RPM.
The engine is a 1275cc A-series.
I've purchased sensors to measure intake temp but not gotten it set up yet. Wanting to see how much cooling is happening in the pipes.

thats pretty good mate! how much power do you think it will make?? what the limits of that little GT15??

also have you thought about wrapping the exhaust? the V8 guys running remote turbos say it really helps with spool!

Cheers

Chris.

Thanks. It made 78 wheel horsepower on 8psi.
Compressor map shows the GT15 should remain efficient to 15psi or more.
The exhaust is wrapped, though the wrap has suffered on some speed bumps. Need to get the pipe tucked up higher.

Plan is in motion to turn up boost using an electronic controller to avoid putting too much torque through the stock clutch.

I would think having a turbo hang under like that would allow it to be damaged from road hazards. Very cool though.

Nice set up!

I will sell you an OEM R56 FMIC if you're interested.

You might want to look into an SRT-4 FMIC too, it's small and a nicer core than the R56
