Hello,
I have an 05 Cooper S with a bad case of bottom end knock that Mini USA won't cover under warranty (23K grrr). Can some one point me in the direction of a good source for a performance short block? My dealer wants $8200 to replace the motor ($2000 or so is labor) and I just can't see putting a stock motor back in it for that kind of money. I'm going to do the work my self but don't know much about the quirks of this motor so I'd like to source a S/B from a shop instead of building it up myself. Can anyone make any recommendations? I've already contacted Jan at Revolution, are there other shops I should be aware of?

Oh, I did some searching but couldn't find much on here for the newer cars.

Current mods: Alta CAI, throttle body, 15% pulley, ECU upgrade and a full Miltek exhaust.

First, why are they saying it isn't covered under warranty?

second, you might post this in the first gen forum as most people in the second gen forum aren't familiar with where to get stuff like blocks for the first gen engine.

 

An '05 out of warranty!?! I thought it was 4-years, 50,000 miles!
