the best I've found is from a company not a vendor on NAM - www.vipcustomparts.com (also listed on ebay if that's easier)

I'm on my 2nd bracket now with the TSW damper, it buckles on my car immediately. When the 2nd bracket arrived with the differant washer's it still buckled, so I braced it with a door hinge as a experiment, now it is bending up from where it attaches to the engine mount . TSW said they had a new damper coming out that is for higher hp car's that was carbon fiber? and had no vibration or buckling problems, has anyone seen it yet?

Please point out where these brackets failed. They seemed very well made to me.

Do these engine dampers seem to help any with the motor-mount failure problems of some of the later R53s?

I have a feeling that it is more to do with weather change. As soon as it got cold here mine failed. That being said, I am putting the damper back on after the new mount is on.

Also, I went to the dealer today to get the mount and was told that the order is still pending as the number they had is now not valid. He said this only happens when they have changed the part. He said it is possible that an improved mount is available.

I always thought that an engine damper acts like a shock absorber that reduces the amount of engine movement under acceleration and deceleration. I'm not an engineer, but I would be concerned that eliminating movement altogether by installing a rigid piece of metal rather than a damper could cause long term damage that might not be immediately apparent.

Opinions please.

It looks as if the bearing area on each end is rubber and not metal. Thus the damping.

Those bushings look more like anti rattle devices rather than dampers. I'm not sure how effective they are at damping the movement, but sI uppose it depends on how soft/hard they are.

rubber is a natural damper....the more you move it, the stiffer it gets. Hard to see from the pic, but the large insert is not solid...it's thinner in the horizontal direction, allowing movement, but as stated, ramping rate for dampening

WOW that is a beefy looking part. What did it do to your interior NHV values? Any steering shake?

nope....car feels much better. the only downside I can see is the install for the 05/06 cars. The 03/04 cars are super easy however. The thing I like most about it is that it looks OEM....the cast piece matches the engine supports. The brackets are cad plated...it would be nice to powdercoat them black, but nothing a rattle can can't fix.

Funny a couple of weeks ago I noticed how smooth my engine was idling, running etc, but I was getting the old acceleration/decceleration bobbing, opened the bonnet and sure enough my LOTF damper had broke! Not worth buying another IMO

My TSW damper started making a knocking/clicking noise just as the clutch engaged. Combination of warn O-rings and cold weather. I removed the damper and now like the reduced NHV and no clink noise.

I'll probably replace the O-rings, and re-install in the Spring. No spirited driving when slippery.
