Manual Boost Controllers

Does anyone have any insight on manual boost controllers? My friend with an eclipse recommended getting one in combination with a boost gauge. Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance!

not that hard to install. But the problem is the stock ecu closing the throttle from seeing to much boost... Like it happened to Alta before the Unichip.
