I'm a NEWBE and have hopefully an intelegent question. I am concerned about reliability issues with pulley upgrades. I have a 2003 MCS with a pulley and ECU upgrade (and a Magnaflow). I read the forums and just thought I would ask if anyone sees a risk, or has experience, in driving a long interstate trip, like 1400 miles, hours on end at sustained speeds like between 65 and 80mph?

Thanks for the input, in advance.

you should try a search and you will find lots and lots of info as I have asked this very question many times. Just type in what you are looking for and your set. For a quick answer. The JCW kit has the same pulley and the pulley shouldn't really have any effect unless your hitting throttle hard. I have read it rides better actually like the car was really made for this pulley over stock. Welcome to MCO and good luck

Aloha and welcome on MCO,
I don't think you should have any problems assuming that the pulley install was done correctly and your MCS is in good mechanical order. I don't see a problem with reliability of the upgrade, it is totally within design limits and if you are past the 1200 mile breakin period you should do fine. If not then keep being under 4500 rpm and no wide open throttle till later.

I have not heard of any mechanical problems with pulley upgrades. You have pulley ECU and Magnaflow so you are fine. Those all work together OK. You can search MCO for additional comments.

Good luck and have a great trip.

Thanks very much for the input. I am really excited about the car. I owned a '59 Austin 850 with an 1100cc motor from an MG 1100 in the '70's. It's been awhile.

Welcome Reddracer,

With an MCS you can drive at 80 MPH in 6th gear and keep the car under 4500 RPM and definitely below any redline. Have a nice trip.
