well looking at the room in fromt of the new engine i would hold out for a GT42R! lol

be nice to see the GT2871 on there. im intrested in someone like ALTA making a manifold in T25 and T3 config so you have much bigger option on turbos. i dont like the idea of being fixed on running XYZ turbo cos its in a kit.

i could see some BIG turbo being fitted though. if you could get a manifold that put the turbo over the gearbox, where there is some room, you could run some BIG stuff. also you may beable to run twinscroll! could even have to turbo pocking out the front of the car.

thanks CHris.

Just remember with all the big HP, I'd also like to see more drivetrain parts for support.. I'm sure in time there will be just as many parts for this year as there was for the previous. The only thing I've found so far was an aftermarket clutch.

Hey, where did you see that aftermarket clutch? I might need one before too long.

Just curious, I know there isn't much power mods out yet for this car, but there will be soon.. Just wondering if the stock block/head/valvetrain, etc.. can hold up to 300+hp reliably if beat on a lot, if theres a good tune of course, or if we're risking.. I thought, but could be wrong, that this motor is less stronger than the previous gen? << anyone know for sure

You're missing the point.

Your two scenarios would result in the same prop speed... but only for steady state operation of constant gas flow. That is NOT what happens in an exhaust pipe.

think of it this way, if a pulse is going down that skinny tube at X feet per second, what happens to it's speed when it goes into the larger tube? If the larger tube is twice the cross sectional area, the pulse doesn't just double in diameter and halve the speed. It gets less than double the size, because of adiabatic cooling, and goes at less than half the speed down the pipe.

In your scenario, with pulses the AC modulation of the prop speed would be higher in case one than in case two, and that's why you don't want too big an exhaust.

on a more subtle note, even though it doesn't seem that way, at the abruupt transition you would get a reflection of the pulse that would slow the the prop down, with the smooth pipe there would be no reflection of the pulse as there would be no rought transition, hence no reflected pulse to slow the prop. Go call up some expert exhaust fabricators. This abrupt transition effect is why collector cones or any cones in general, are limited to about 15 degrees divergence. Any more than that, and bad things start happening to the gas flow.

The impulse nature of exhaust flow is very, very different than steady state gas flows.

Hope this helps.

Matt

a question for ALTA and the likes, when are you guys going to make a manifold (stainless or cast) manifold????? it needs to come in either T25 or T3 housings. there could be a very nice market for whoever is willing to do it. also with the current state of the $ i would bet there are a few people in the UK/Europe that would like this product to be made to!

thanks Chris.

PS maybe this could give you gusy some ideas.

Really, if you have a way of locating the thread on Mini2, I would like to read it. Pointing google at their forums has not gleaned it for me.
