Thanks, Bart.

Do you recall what John charged per car?

I'd like to be there, however it's a little up in the air since I have to have some body work done. It's slated for next week, but we all know how that goes when you start doing custom stuff. Pencil me in please.

All in the charge was $400.00 (including dyno $75). Minspeed who was the local host donated breakfast and there time! I as instigator of the event bought lunch for everyone. Whats for lunch BOB?

If you think about it - its questionable how many cars can get done, then you have travel/loding/misc. expenses this is not a real $$ venture for the tuner. On the other hand for us, we get in theory more of a custom tune than what is being offered to us today. You get a fun day in which you might actually learn something about your car and a view into a tuners life.

I started w/ GIAC and was pleased w/ the perf. gain then I got the LDG tune and it took it further up a notch. If your gonna spend on tuning dollars - tuning events such as LDG or what SpiderX is trying to do is the best bang for the tuner buck.

Kudos to Jan and SpiderX for putting this on the plate to those in the SouthEast area. I have no doubt that Jan can refine these cars even further with a tune.

While graphs are cool, even better was seeing everyone's reaction after the cars came off the dyno and they returned from their test spin.

Anyone in the area that can make this event, I highly recommend doing so.

Yeah, that WAY is a corrupting influence!
As a side note, speaking of back on topic, had friend ask last night if he would benefit from this tune with a mildly modded mini. CAI and 19% ? He seemed to think it was running rich so my 1st thought was , yes.
What would the average modjunkie expect? say 15%, CAI, cat back?

we have seen typically 12whp+ in tuning.... much depends on how the cars state of tune is....

is your friend running a 19% with JCW injectors?

Baby modder w/ question

Hey Jan & Tim. I'm Tim's friend w/ the slightly modded '06. I've ONLY done the 19%; no injectors, CAI, and the car feels rich in addition to black fumes on the exhaust tips. I'm wondering what's the up & downside (meaning waiting for other mods first) of the tune w/ my lowly 19%. Thanks in advance

without having it put on a dyno or having a wideband a/f gauge on it, you really don't have a clue what is going on with it through the entire rpm range. The car will run better with a tune.

is there a conclusion on which belt you want to see on the cars jan? I remember from the "How I removed mods and made more power" thread we hashed out that a shorter belt then was thought before was the answer.

do we have a napa part on the best belt to use?

Lastly... is this thing a go? I'd like to clear my schedule so that i can be there.

Hey Jan

That damn GP car ran like a raped aped this past weekend at Mid-Ohio, to bad it rained Saturday. Sunday was ton of fun pulling away from pullied cars with headers, exhaust, CAI and lightened for track use. I had a few people wonder if the tune made a difference or if it was just the header and exhaust. Told them we found 14 more HP after the tune was done. I think some out there still don't believe your tune works. "Mod of the Day"
Sorry guys it works
198 HP @ the wheels @ Helix
RMW Header-Exhaust-Tune and a stock GP
Thanks Jan

The head may have to come this spring if all goes well with work. The Cross coilovers keep calling my name though. I'm looking for a place here this spring with a dyno and an install facility. I know my MINI tech would be in for this.
The Buffalo - Rochester area would love this. Got an idea. I'll PM you.
The Light just went on.

Larry,

We'll install your head for free if you leave the old one behind....

May need a JCW core for next year. Rule change.....going too fast.

May be we should get Jan across the border too.... Shouldn't be too hard to fill a day or two....with a few race cars.....

Need a core?

Congrats on the mods, Tim!

I think Way is letting you off too easily! After talking with him, I ended up getting a whole new car and THEN the mods
