sprp85: THAT IS NOT NORMAL!!!!!!! Two things, one, what are you using for a header? Also, be sure to loosen the flanges and the mounting hanger in the rear. Then rotate the kit up to the right place, then re-tighten.

Mr. Webb's issue was related to the Milltek header that had the rear flange roated about 15-20 deg. off from stock. Since the early ALTA systems used flanged joints you couldn't adjust for the mis-made header. (Not trying to blame another company, but even look at the side by side photo on the same website you reference and you can see the difference.)

LET ME know if I can help further.

Thanks for choosing ALTA!

Mine didn't/doesn't fit right either....stock header

1. its SUPER tight....I had to push the mid-pipe extremely hard towards the front of the car to get the rear section on, once on there is a lot of tension on the system. When I unbolt the rear section from the mid-pipe, they overlap at the flanges by a good 4"

2. The resonator vibrates on the heat shield once the car warms up and goes to nomal idle (could be from the force of the system being pushed forward)

3. I had to really screw with the rear hanger adjusting the height and angle to get the tips to sit right (02-03). Right now its on the car pretty straight, but I've got the hanger through the rubber insulator and then a hose clamp on the other side becasue it kept walking off (I assume from the pressure of the system wanting to move back)...it actually came off on my way home one day and melted my rear diffuser. Also the rear isolater is pushed/twisted up again the chassis when the battery box is.

With all that, this is the way mine sits:

not the brightest pic, but you can see it hangs a little low and where the diffuser melted on the LH side

It sounds great and I love that it uses flanges, but it did take some work to get it on the car correctly.

mine didn't fit correctly either. The bosses the hangers slip into were at the wrong angle (probably slipped in welding). The set screws weren't long enough to tension it properly either. I fixed it the DIY way (which I've come to expect with Alta/Perrin products by the way).....drilled out the bosses to allow the hangers to fully insert, thus raising the tips. I boughtt longer allen caps to properly secure things. Here was the final fitment (after I coated the tips satin black and the midpipe silver...hate the polished bling, even under the car):

a year later, it's holding up ok (the coating and my fix):

finally getting some responses !!

First of all, i'm using stock header. since my lower back was freaking killing me, my friend did most of the work under the car.. so i am not sure what went wrong.. he has done / helped me out with numerous exhaust systems before (borla race, WMS, one ball, magnaflow..) so he isn't total newb at this either.. well the previous owner said that it fitted perfectly so I'm guessing there is something wrong with the installl... (which I cannot tell... everything seems pretty straight)

My tips doesn't look as bad as the Webb's test fit car (the red car in my previous post) but very very similar to the blue car's position.

what should i check out first? flange after the cat or flange after the midpipe??

Thank you all, again..!!!
