M7 AGS-R Cold Air Intake

Finally cast in stone and ready for prime time, the R56 AGS-R is going into production shortly with delivery scheduled in October.

The AGS-R is the best performing R56 Cold Air Intake system currently
on the market. We have added tons of features to keep this system the best performing and best looking available....

Here are some exclusive features not available from the competition:

1. Composite construction minimizing heat soak of the intake box.

2. A properly designed intake tract allowing the air to speed up with
no restrictive air-box interface. We also added vortex generators to
minimize restrictive laminar flow. The filter will see the airflow across
the whole 12" of filter media, not just a small portion of it.

3. A huge 12" dual stage foam filter with a 3" tube interface that will outflow any flow requirement the engine will ever need. The MAF interface is 3"OD.

4. As we designed and tested this system, it become very clear that it was almost as quiet as the stock system. This is a bummer because the sound
from the blow-off valve can be pretty addictive.. So I started to think
what if we could tune it to any noise level--quiet for the commuter who
needs to be on the phone, a little noisier for some more spice, and
outrageously noisy for guys like me....Enter the
"Knock-out sound ports" ingenuously simple for total sound control and added value for you the consumer. (See Image)

5. We realize that some people are concerned that water will be ingested in copious amounts if there's a down pour or Tsunami...
After looking really close at the dynamics of pressure inside the box and
possible pooling of water in a rain storm or worse, we decided to add
rain/water valves in the lowest area of the intake box. As water enters the
the intake box some will atomize and enter the engine (no harm) and cool the intake charge (good thing), while larger droplets will accumulate towards the lowest area in the box and thus exit through the water valves due to the high box pressure.

6. We also kept servicing the engine in mind. Oil can be changed without removing the AGS-R. For sparkplug service, just remove the AGS-R (two M6 button head screws) and losen the rubber downtube. This will take all of 3 minutes....simple.

7. Since the AGS-R is not attached to the hood, a Strut Tower Brace will comfortably fit right above the air box with no issues.

8. Depending on the finish you add to the AGS-R, people will think that the unit is a factory equipped part, not aftermarket.

9. The R56 Ram Scoop and soon to be revealed the R56 Extreme Scoop
will be a fabulous addition to this system, and at the same time add
a little extra style to your hood.

10. Heat is enemy numero uno under the hood of the R56. So the AGS-R
will have a simple but very effective heatshield. But as everyone knows
here on NAM..... M7 will not stop with simple. So we will have something
super cool and this design is exactly what the R56 connoisseur is looking for . . . Aerogel/Ceramics....... the full secret will be out next week.

11. Lastly, a couple of thoughts on the importance of cool air to the engine.
As we tested the AGS-R through these months, we found that the changes from a simple K&N filter to the AGS-R made a profound difference in how the car reacted to throttle inputs at low or high speeds. At highway speeds
goose bump inducing warp speed was only a jab away on the loud pedal
and that was in sixth gear.....Wow. If you needed something a little bit
more girlfriend (or boyfriend, spouse) scream inducing....
fifth gear will now make things a little bit more frantic and by the way.... that's at 90mph. (These speeds are aided by the fantastic Unichip
R56 module soon to be released).

The AGS-R price will be $629 for black gel coat with some options like color matching to your R56 for an additional $225, or a sporty CF layer on the top cover will add $100.

We will also have a solid CF version available at a premium, as this version is vacuum bagged for a flawless finish, is extremely light weight and priced at $1250.

Feel free to call me any time if you have any additional questions I might not have touched on.

Looks good Peter,
I don't think it will fit my R53 :-) but hopefully my buddy will get it for his. I'm so upside down in my R53 to even think about getting an R56.
keep up the good work!!!!

I will take one in CF please.

Do you have pics of the CF being used for this part possibly? Performance numbers with this part only (no Unichip) so we know?

to proof it's indeed the best performing intake as stated? That would be nice... it looks well thought out though

As there's very few if any to compare to......

With that said we compared to a "very hot air" intake IE. K&N cone filter
and there's no comparison how it performed. We will have some datalogging graphs to share very soon with temperature deltas that will show why keeping the intake charge cool is of major importance.

And thank you all for the kind words regarding the design, I worked very
hard at getting some wow factor added to the product.

Regarding CF... I will make the next intake in Mellow Yellow with a CF
top cover.

When can we see some before/after dyno numbers? I've seen the 4 intakes that are out for the R56 and the only actual numbers I've seen have been from Alta and Gruppe M (although even with those kits, I would like to see before/after WHP numbers - stock and intake only - on the same graph).

I'll be waiting to choose the intake I'll be going with until I see numbers. This one looks great though. I'm hoping it has the numbers to match the looks :0)

I have no clue if that thing works, but I have to give credit where it's due - it looks amazing. Best design feature of the R56 anyone? Kidding!

are the drain holes the same size as the top ones if so wouldnt the engine heat rise up into the box or do you think that since so much air is going in the leftover air will be pushed down and up further cooling the engine. as for looks it has cosmetically sold i would say but as for performance numbers are numbers

Hello...

We will have all the numbers that are expected from us and more.
With that said real world numbers will clarify how effective the
this system is on the road. Airflow is the secret to getting the most
out of the AGS-R but not everything.......

The drain valves are much smaller, and there's very little heat in that area
IE. nothing to be worried about.

Am I reading this right? You are charging 629USD to 1250USD for a cold air intake?

Yes and we aren't even the higest priced in the market . Low volume is a real killer when it comes to Mfg. costs . If there were a few hundered thousand Minis out there you would see honda pricing as well.
