some newb questions

just got a mcs and have a few questions on the performance of it. I was really wandering about the fuel tuning on it really. i am looking at just doing a 15% or 17% pulley, header and cat back, and an intake. I will posibly throw a new intercooler in the mix somewhere down the road also. with these mods, do i need bigger injectors or some sort of fuel tuner or will the ecu compensate?

i am sorry if these are stupid questions but i have always had neons and just sold a 500+hp srt and don't know much else besides them and what is required to make power on anything else.

what's up man. you're looking at the exact same stuff I just got done doing. I have the 17%, madness header, high flow cat, borla aggressive exhaust, new coil, bigger wires, colder plugs,380cc injectors, and K&N CAI. Eventually I want a DFIC, and the flash for the ECU. The new mid-range is awesome, and a lot of fun. I'm sure it'll run a lot better when I get the ECU done, and have the car tuned, but there's a nice difference. good luck man!

thanks for the quick reply! i am glad you like it but i am still wondering if the stock injectors will work with a 15 or 17 percent pulley.

The stock injectors will work fine... I have stock injectors, wires, coil, and ECU in my MINI with the mods I'm running and everything runs fine. You don't NEED to do that ECU upgrade, but if you get it properly tuned you will gain a slight bit of HP and it'll run a little better.

I got a Fireballed tune, so I can't help you there.

As to the injectors, I went with the JCWs, which are 380cc, when I got my tune. I did run with a 15% without any non-OEM tuning prior to that for several thousand miles with no problem.

Reasons I got the 380s with the tune and a header install: although most tuners (maybe all) will tell you, the stock are "good enough" for just a pulley change, JCW head and pulley are not extreme at all, and they upped the injectors to 380. In addition, even though they might not be "required", as Brian and Hubie at Fireballed said, 380cc gives you a little extra margin on the tuning "edges."

I've been very happy with the results, but have not tested the car "before and after" except by butt dyno.

so far there are only a few tuners that have cracked our ecu. all the rest are either flashes or piggyback. here is a quick search:

19% pulley with giac and larger injectors:

another giac thread:

LDG tune:

and the list goes on and on..........just try some searches.

standard injectors are 340cc's, the JCW upgraded injectors are 380's, some people run larger then that based on boost levels and mods. I personally run m7 400's and most of the Twin charged and turbo only cars run 500's and larger.
