Drivetrain MINI individual throttle bodies
The LHP ITB's are in an article in Super Street this month (NA vs Turbo). Looks pretty trick...If only I was still gonna go NA with the Cooper. Who's know's what the hell I'm doing.....:impatient

ITB's are awesome... anyone looking to go or stay NA this is almost a must to make big HP.
The main benifet of ITB's besides (individual tuning per cylinder, greater throttle response, and overall more volume of air.) Is the fact that ITB's allow people to use very large camshafts and still keep their idle somewhat decent.
Large cams with a rough idle are needed to make big power on NA engines. The throttle bodies help with keeping the idle somewhat smoother/streetable.
The reason the ITB's help with these large cams is because the intake manifolds are comepletely seperate from the other cylinders. They do not share the same air like on stock units with the intake chamber and runners going to the cylinders.
I believe Toda Racing offers and suggests using their ITB setup with their "Killer Cams" for honda engines. The "Killer Cams" are so large that it actually disables the vtec and instead runs the large lift cams all the time. The ITB's help with the rough idle and allow to run the idle rpms at somewhat a normal level. They sound like a small v8 with the lope from the cams.
Edit: Also 6k for a tuneable ECU seems crazy. You can get the ECU alot cheaper under 3k. You would most likely have to have a custom wire harness built but i dont see that being more than $500 or you could do it yourself.
However im not sure how good this mod would be without a big valve head that has been heavily modded, and LARGE cams. Something alot more than what is being offered on the market as of yet. Most likely would need to be a custom grind. with large lift/duration. Maybe something like...0.429in lift and 328 degree duration.

6k is way over the top for a stand alone. That is what we're talking about? And the harness will come with it, software, PC interface cable, too.

That's some cam you got there! You can see some injection on a super mod http://www.mmracingphotos.com/supers.html individual throttle bodies do work well with these engines.
See pic - I have a couple of these I want to get rid of. These were made by TWM many years ago ( they were for my Spitfire ). For some of us that had carburator cars these were the bee's nee's. These with a stand alone & a lap top..... NOS..... that's what I'm talking about....
Obe - if your Merc was a fuel Injected car originaly.........
