There are probably some consequences associated with moving the throttle body from before the blower to after it. Not sure why it would work ok with a turbo but not with a positive displacement blower. Anyone know?

Yes.
A roots SC is a blower. It develops boost throuigh resistance to flow. Put the TB after the blower and when the TB closes you have instant infinite boost. Not good.

Turbos, centrifugal and twin screws are all compressors. Different ball game.

obe won,

YES! but could you pop off the excess pressure when the tb closed?....i don't know for sure, just thinking out loud while bleary from getting up for the italian gp.

I taped it Getting set to watch now so no spoilers please

I'm sure that technically it can be done it's just very bizarre to think about.
For one thing any roots I've ever seen had a large exit path. It needs to based on how it functions. To neck that down to a TB will be building boost all the time, even when it's not wanted. That'd be a pretty twitchy balancing act and it really starts telling you it'd be easier with a compressor of some sort.

This is all based on my minimal understanding of this stuff so keep that in mind as well.

I would really like to have this set up in the future to keep the car NA insteading of going turbo but one question comes to mind... Is this street legal? Looks pretty LOUD!

The HPA car was for track use only, can you apply this set up for street use as well?

I'm in the same boat, but turbo would be cheaper and yield soooo much more power. With HPA's ITB, we have to convert the throttle to cable (in theory). In doing so, apparently the ECM goes into fits. According to Onasled's above post, in reference to this thread, look at putting another $6k towards the ECM (just Motec or all ECMs...?).

$9k for ITB power =

I'm going to email HPA to find out what difficulties were had with the ECM and whether or not this ITB is indeed throttle cable driven. I'm looking for a total cost here.

But is street legal?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like it comes with a new head. $2,000 doesn't seem to bad...

It states:

will be supplied with cable throttle and throttle pedal (to eliminate fly by wire)

Moderator,

I think this should be moved to the non-S forum. Part is for NA Cooper.

Thanks!

I completely understand that. But, as someone who isn't close enough to Florida to know what's going on first-hand, all I have is the website. When a product says "We've been working on a system we'll announce it later this week! Stay tuned!" for a few months, it sure smells like vapor-ware and causes me to lose trust in the company.

I am pretty sure HPA could adapt this to the S model. All it takes is money.

Like five posts up and almost a year ago, HPA has been discussed.
