Pay specific attention to the yellow wire that is coupled with the blue with black stripe piggyback wires which tie into the crank position sensor side and the white wire off the piggyback that ties to the ECU side. These wires intersect the crank position sensor and if there is a loose connection, you will have these errors. Also if for some reason you are having spark blow out and multable misfires you may get crank position timing errors. I highly doubt that this sensor would go bad. There really isn't much to it.

Update

I did get the Autoenginuity scan tool with enhancement for BMW. I talked with Jay the programmer regarding what the tool is saying. It looks like I have a communication problem between some of the controllers that may be caused either by the TB or a ground fault.

I am trying to avoid taking it to the dealer and will try this weekend to further diagnose the problem. The biggest issue is that the car is in Limp mode with the EML,DSC,Tire indicators staying on. With the scan tool I was able to determine that the DSC system is functioning okay, but not getting the signals from other systems.

When the limp mode occured was after trying to start the vehicle after the TB connector was unknowingly partially disconnected due to working in the area. I am wondering if the main problem is in the harness to the TB and will focus my attention there to start with. It is also possible that there is a ground fault problem.

I have replaced the ground wire from the piggyback computer per Eric's instructions to see if this would help the shutdown. Can't test that theory since the limp mode.

Thanks for all the help. Will keep updating as I get new info.

with all of those codes you probably have a major ground unconnected in the chassis/engine somewhere...

Well, finally I got it out of limp mode!!!! I found that the problem was that apparently, 2 pins on the top of the ECU misaligned and were not connecting with the harness plug. I straightened the pins and the lights all went out and now back normal operation.

I am now back to the original problem with the high boost/RPM cut off that occurs intermittently with WOT.

I have started to solder in the new wiring harness that came with the new powerpaq to see if this will fix the problem. My current wiring of the powerpaq has an extra wire involving the O2 sensor pre-cat which the Helix wiring diagram does not have. In talking to Eric, I am not connecting this one with the new harness.

Hopefully, after this new harness is soldered in, the problem will be fixed.

I got your PM. as you desolder a wire from the old harness, solder in the new wire of the same color from the new harness. do 1 wire at a time until your done. this is the best way to ensure no mistakes in the wiring. OR follow the wiring diagram exactly, this is the correct wiring for the kit DO NOT get inventive!

what boost level are you hitting? their is an overboost protection setting in the eboost is it this you are hitting?

I finished re-wiring the harness and I unsoldered and soldered one at a time. The car seems to run great, although I haven't had a chance to push it full throttle to see if it still shuts down.

As to the max boost, if memory serves me correct, I was seeing about 21psi max. I will have to check again to make sure.

What is the max I should be seeing and what is the eBoost cut of set at?

well thats a loaded question as people like to tinker, i believe i set overboost shutdown to 24 psi, you should have a turbosmart packet which shows you how to check where the OBS is. if not i will try and find a faq online OR walk you through the process.

Update

Just to let everyone know, I tried everything I know how including rewiring the power paq without any change. At this time, I am at a loss as to what it could be.

At this time I am tired of trying to mess with it and since my wife has a Mini we have decided not to keep two. So it is with sadness that I have decided to sell the twincharged mini. Currently I am trying to sell it locally and am asking $15,700.

Thanks for all the advice.
