In my eyes most of the ones I've seen are just plain ole fugly looking. Being more of a traditionalist I went with one that to me looks like an old smiths gauge but also incorperates a digital readout. Not only that, the kit has a readout thats placed under the bonnet. Thats good for the few times you are on the dyno, and it looks cool too.

This route is NOT the most cost effective. The gauge is by Racepak and it only works with a G2X as a base unit.

I've got the PLX R-500

and it works very well, but the display sucks big time. It does logging to memory or streaming to a computer, which is nice, but only supports 6 data channels, which kind of sucks, as using A/F or EGT takes up one channel per signal, only leaving 4 analog inputs (0-5 V) left for other signals. It's got a programmable 0-5 (I think) V output so you ought to be able to drive any guage you wanted.

When I looked, there was no good overall solution that I could find. Many that worked well enough though. Before you buy, see if any of the hobbiests have something you like. The Megasquirt guys have a wideband circuit, I think....

I was looking at the AEM AFR WIDEBAND GAUGE-TYPE UEGO CONTROLLER, 30-4100. I like the round guage shape so I can put it next to my boost guage.

this has digital display and color led lights for entertainment .

The PLXDevices stuff allows you hook-up to the narrow band input along with the WB using only one O2 sensor. This way you don't need a third bung. I have the AM WB kit, but haven't installed it yet... waiting for a spare manifold to put the third bung into .

I have the XD-16 with the gauge mounted in between the tech and speedo on the streeing column. It fits real nice there and is very visible.

Hi Bart,

I have the XD-16 from Innovate in my car. It's a great gauge and you can change the look of it to match your interior.

You can get a good deal from Jan at RMW. I've installed three and have it down to a science.

Bart,

I also have an innovate system and am pleased. The DB gauge kit with LC1 module. Less options than the XD-16(cheaper too) but works good enough for me. It is also a gauge type

Bahamabart, I have the same AFR gauge you asked about. IT works pretty well, just make sure you put it in before the cat, or it will show you erroneously lean...

to add the bung do I need to remove the header or can it be done with the header in the car and attached to the exhaust.

I actually prefer

to have them mounted with the header in the car. It's easier to locate it where you can make sure that you can get to the sensor and there's room to take it in and out without having to take the exhaust apart. To do a really good job, open up the exhaust at the header so you can de-burr the inside of the exhaust pipe after drilling the hole.... But it's not really that big a deal as there will be a sensor sticking through there anyway.

Watch out!

as the Mini ECU seems to use an isolated input for the O2 sensor. I didn't hook up the narrow band output, but had PMed (Long ago, sorry I don't remember who) someone who was setting it up on his Mini. Don't know if it succeeded or not. I think all the PLX wideband controllers have a narrowband output.

I'm looking around for a wideband AFR controller, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me which is better, the Innovate LC-1 or the Zeitronix Zt-2. Reading on the Innovate forums it seems some users got troubles with the LC-1 calibrating...

I'm using the Innovate LC1 on the RX7
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/i...2e18fa937c0c33

They all require some calibration.

Are you using the LC-1 alone or with some other Innovate component (like DL-32 for datalogging for example...)?

just a note after having installed. I bought the PLX for the above feature SPECIFICALLY. Once I got it and found the bag of resistors and no clear what to do. I called M7 who has installed these - even they shy'ed away making 1 O2 service both the gauge and ECU. They pointed out that if I screwed it up then my ECU would not be happy. I decided to add a bung - no brain matter required .

There are reason to consider or buy PLX BUT buying it to have 1 O2 service both the gauge and ECU IS NOT ONE OF THEM.

My AutoMeter WB's been in since December, and has worked flawlessly, no calibration needed (that I can remember anyway). It uses an analog output for data logging so I had to rig up a board for it. I use it to log AFR with G-Tech my data.
