Drivetrain Intake size?
Actually, the hose has a step for the filter neck of 65mm, but the ID of the actual hose is 60mm. To answer your question, you need a filter that will fit inside 65mm (which is prbably right on what MiniPilo said at 2.5"
.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

And does anyone know what the ID is at the other end of the intake hose--the end that connects to the throttle body? (I know, just go to the garage and measure it but then i'd need to cut the factory clamp, so thanks in advance.)

You'll need 2.625" ID to fit over the TB flange.

cheese, thanks for the info.
The hose dimensions seem counter intuitive to me, though. It starts at 2.5" ID, then steps down slightly to 60 mm, then flares back to 2.625"? I thought a more typical design for intake hoses was to taper the hose slightly overall--from inlet to throttle body. I never understood what the rationale was for that tapering, but I figured that it was somehow important for the overall airflow. The MCS design strikes me as odd--and unncessarily restrictive.
I want to keep my BMP intake but would like to replace the intake hose with something larger--similar to the Alta hose (which the folks at Alta aren't making available as a stand-alone piece bc the hose end is larger than stock and presents fitment issues).
Does anyone have suggestions for an Alta-like replacement for the intake hose?

I talked to Alta yeaterday and they told me that the hose was back orderd 3 months. They quoted me a price of $125 for just the hose. I wanted to use their hose and a filter similar to the one on the madness intake. I plan to make my own cold air box. Due to the high price and lack of availibility I will use the stock hose for the time being. Interesting that the madness filter has an 2.75 in ID and the throttle body is 2.625 in while the stock hose is 2.5 in.
The Mini Pilo intake is 145 and is available right now. Check with Rand at Mini-motorsport.com or Aaron at Outmotoring.com. Also check http://www.thepilo.com for information about it.
The throttle body is 2.5" but there is a rather large lip on the throttle body that you'll need to get over in order to clamp something on. I've had bad luck getting hoses with a 2.5" ID to fit on but your milage may vary.
