so last week i talked with some one from mini mania or madness, i'm not too sure. but i was talking about the pulley. we got talking about the belt and he was saying that a ot people are taking the pulley belt off (or they are breaking off), and putting the stock belt back on. and then was saying it wasn't worth getting the belt because of toomany people having issues with it breaking or just coming off. so my question is, has any of you had this issue? are you running the stock belt or the one that came with the pulley?
thanx for any info. as i'm installing the pulley tomorrow (saturday), and didn't order the belt. was just carious what you guys thought of this.
thanx
ja

Randy from mini-motorsport did my pulley and 20 other cars at the Rentech here in South Florida. He used the stock belt on everyone with no problems. The belt tensioner makes up for the smaller sized pulley and works just fine. Randy's Florida Pulley Party Check out this and see what I am talking about.

Does that only work if you have pink wire looms?

A) If you are jacking the engine to install, you'll have to lower it down a bit after removing the pulley to get enough clearance to wrestle the old belt out, then serpentine the new one in and jack back up to get access to put tensioner back on. WAY too much work for 0 worth. Just leave the stock belt on. It's more than sufficient. The tensioner is still able to provide a taught belt.

My Pulley was done by the guys at Helix and they used the stock belt. Why buy another one when the one you have works fine?

thanx guys. you answered my question completely. i was just a bit hesitant on it because a smaller pulley would give more slack in the belt and wasn't too sure if the tensioner would make up for it. but sounds like it does. makes me happy as i order just the pulley earlier this week before starting this topic.

Actually, the one person who had their belt chewed up used a small non-stock belt.
