Exhaust sound questions...(350Z/mustang GTish sound)

this is my 3rd MINI and im not a huge mod guy, but i really want to get a better sound from my R56. i used to have a 350Z and loved the sound of the stock exhaust on that car. i also love the sound of the stock mustang GT exhaust. again, i know very little about mods (i hope to change that) but is it at all possible to get that 350Z/mustang sound from an R56? is the sound just all about the exhaust or does alot have to do with the engine? i dont want a poppy, crackley sounding exhaust i want somthing deep, robust and powerful yet low key. also does anybody have a recommendation on an R56 exhaust that will get me this sound?

on a side not, does a cat back exhaust add horsepower?

Your mini well never, ever sound like a mustang GT simply because of the number of cylinders. It would be closer to the 350Z exhaust but a bit higher pitched, it's a much smaller engine compared to both of the other ones.

You can find some soundclips of the ALTA exhaust at http://tinyurl.com/2b2brl

and if you search for R56 milltek on youtube you'll find some other sound clips. Good luck and enjoy the mini!
