GIAC Questions/ Problems

Thank you all for looking and help! I had a local shop install the GIAC yesterday for 15%, CAI and exhaust. i have many other mode including 2% crank, Dinan TB, Detroit tuned BPV, DFIC and so on. Now the issue is when I get on the gas my engine now knocks and pings REALLY bad. I have never had this problem before with anything else. I called the shop and he told me that this is knid of a "learning" product and drive it for a few hundred mile to see if it works itself out. I drove a little aove 100 miles yesterday and it is still doing it. I trust the shop that did it and they have said that they will do what it take to make it right I just want to get any opinions/ thoughts from the community to see what you all think. Thank you, Jeff

If you have a 2% crank, I would think that the GIAC 15% is not the appropriate file to run, since the s/c is spinning faster than with the 15%. Search around for the exact equivalent reduction here but it should be around 17%, so a GIAC 17% file + injectors should be a more appropriate file for your setup. All of this is my opinion of course...

I would agree. The 19% works for 17% as well. Try calling Eric at Helix13. He worked with GIAC on the file and should be able to give the best advice.

I was having problems with a GIAC flash for my K04-01 turbo setup on my Jetta and found that there is no way to call GIAC, you have to email them and they are lousy about getting back to you. Your best bet would be to call Helix. They are the GIAC authority for the MINI

Thank you all for your help. I did speak with Eric and your right he is good. I need to upgrade the injectors and switch the file from the 15% to the 19% and he said that would take care of the problem.

Okay now let me ask you all this. With the new Helix injectors and the right GIAC software what kind of improvments can I expect? I am currently running stock injectors. Thanks

Thank you I read through it but I don't see anything about 15% + 2% crank. Is ther anyone out there that has done this combo with the GIAC? Thanks.

How long have you had the DFIC on? what boots are you using on it. With the factory ones my car would pull them off at least every two days and cause the same thing you are saying. I'd say pull the DFIC off and clean the seals up and reinstall.

Hope that helps.
