CAI preference

Hey I am wondering what everyone thinks of all the CAIs out there and which one they like best... and of course why? I am trying to narrow it down a bit before I run out and buy one. Thanks...

hmmm, are you talking about the R50 or R53? I'm only wondering because there aren't any CAI's on the market yet for the R56!

DDM Works looks like it'll be great for the R56 when it comes out later this month.

There's the suggestion that it opens up the hood scoop, too.

I think the Craven Speed CAI is the best. It has the largest volumn because the box completely replaces the stock unit. Other aftermarket CAIs rest upon the lower half of the stock box where as the Craven Speed is a complete four sided box with a top and a bottom. Also to gain additional volumn the ECU is removed from its plastic housing and bolted directly into the box. The filter is larger than other units both in diameter and length, extending out into the cowl area. These features help to improve throttle response.

The Dinan rocks.

And it doesn't look like a high school kid made it as a metal shop project for his civic.

I am also a fan of the Craven Speed CAI. I looked at lots of them before I purchased this one. The design fulfills my desire for a complete box that preforms well, looks good and is easy to access for filter cleaning.

Ok but does anyone have any thoughts on the Helix Cold Air Intake, ProMini, Mini Maddness, AFE or even the Bavarian Autosport? There are a ton out there to select from....

We are currently in the test phase of our intake for the R56 - also a stainless steel enclosed design (like our R53 unit) that incorporates a ram air through the stock hood scoop. Look for it sometime this summer.

Here is our R53 design - SportBox RAF. It has the largest volume of any intake on the market, the largest surface area on the filter with the best flow, and our original idea to move the filter into the cowl area. We also can include a ram air that uses the unused portion of the hood scoop for the intercooler (about 5").

Hope that helps!
Randy
