From Ultrik to Alta?

Hey all, when i bought my mini my mate before me put in a Ultrik intake and recently ive seen a lot of hype over the Alta Intake. If i decide to switch to the Alta will i see any difference performance or sound gains?

Probably not much difference...

I have the Ultrik and have removed the back panel that connects to the driver side cowl vent area, and it sounds indentical to an Alta in my opinion.

Honestly use the money twords a bottle neck. You already have a fix for that part of you car so mabye get the Air Diverter for the IC or something similar in price. When you have run out of stuff to improve then go back and revisit the intake. Dont expect anything Significant. This is any car really.

Not to offend the Alta intake enthusists here, but I have the Ultrik and besides the fact that it doesn't come with a silicone tube, I can't tell the difference. I cut a hole in my back plate, but when Detroit Tuned did my work at MOTD, they just took it out and it screams. they're both similar designs and I'd just leave the Ultrik put in your car.

I have the Alta and I love it. The bigger bore silicone tube helps , definately an improvement over the stock corrugated tube. Looks cool too. Whether you want to spend another $250 (a lot for an intake IMO) for another intake, I'm not so sure. That's really up to you. The IC diverter is def. not woth $180 to me. I'd go for some suspension work or something. TC Sportline catback is $259 on amzn....

You get what I mean though right? spend it on a real bottleneck not something thats either already optimised or can only be improved apon a little. In the end it will mean thew diffrence in spending alot of money for X hp/performance or not that much for the same HP/Performance. Or better yet look at it this way.

Would you rather have:

A.) Slightly better intake or same

B.) Keep your already better than stock intake and have another mod similar in price (ie: diverter, pulley, swaybar, springs, many choices at that price range)

Trust me Attack the bottle necks/Deficiencies twords your goal and you will always see an improvement.

yeah, i took off the casing around the intake to create more air flow to the filter and thats the best you can do. i already have a good amount of suspension done for what im looking for.. silk thanks again man i never thought to take off the Ultrik peice, im gonna save up for an invidia catback and BBK now

you could try to take out the drivers side cowl if you want. If it looks like the filter would be able to draw air from the vent below the windshield that would be an easy mod that might give you a little more air (colder too)...
