Lord of the Dampers Question

What is the concensus on which way to intall the Damper? with the
barrel near the engine block or nearer the frame attachment point.
I know it should not make any difference, but what is the best install?

I have heard of most people with the damper on the frame side to better clear the tensioner tool. (this might be total crap/hear say, so be warned!)

That's how I have it installed, but I've seen it both ways.
