Where to Start? Please help!!!
I got my mcs about 5 months ago and iam having a real hard time knowing were to start. Just like all you guys who love your cars on this website i love mine. it was my dream car since i was 12. i was lucky enough to get one when i turned 16. I want people at my school to come to respect my car, other than considering it a girl car. I need to know were to start performance wise intake, exhaust....ect. any type of feed back would be nice thanks.
Search the forums. The basic power mods are intake, exhaust, pulley, suspension-wise it's all about the rear sway.
Before blowing a lot of money on the car, figure out a little better what you want out of it. I wouldn't go off modding a car to change people's attitudes about it. The way to change impressions is to show them what you can do with a MINI - at the autocross course for instance.

If people don't respect your MCS stock, they won't respect it modded.
And, being in high school, even if they do respect it, they'll tell you they don't.

Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Don't make us post the pic of the 16 y.o. who plowed his MCS into a tree.

To answer your question, RedSkunk has it "intake, exhaust, pulley, suspension-wise it's all about the rear sway." There is no 'best' of any of them, just all different flavors of ice cream.
Welcome to NAM!

2. Lowering springs
3. High performance driving school
4. 19mm rear sway bar
5. CAI
6. 15% Pulley
7. One-ball/cat-back exhaust
I mention the 1st two because it sounds like some of the kids are making fun of you because you have a MINI....morons
... Post a pick of your car, and we can give you some more hints for making it look a bit more aggressive.
The only way to gain respect is to modify the nut behind the wheel first.....Seriously, spend the money on some performance driving schools and learn what your car can and can't do in stock form before you go making more power you don know what to do with......then sit back and watch all the idiots at your school wreck cars and kill thier friends because they thought that driving fast was cool

You got a chick, gay, clown car thats cute

Seriously, don't sweat the small stuff. Plane guy is correct
Modifying its performance isn't going to help you one bit if you can't drive it at its fullest potential OEM.
If you can't laugh at the car being a chick car, then your in for a rough time.
You dont need validation from nobody but yourself.
Based on your concern, I would suggest starting by making the MCS look and sound a little more aggressive. My initial suggestions are: Aero Kit, Lowering Springs (such as H&R), and Borla Sport Cat-Back Exhaust. Depending on your budget, then lighter wheels and wider tires (+ stickier). Cold Air Intake is another great basic mod. These mods will greatly change the look, sound, and feel of your car. As people have suggested, there are many other engine/suspension mods that can be made as your budget allows.
thank you all who decided to post. I just love the car sooo much...and i want to show people that mini's are freaking cool. and i love the fact that i dont have a mustang or camero like every other freaking kid at school. i want a car that i can fun with and stand out a little( in a good way)! whats the best bang for the buck and do you know of any performance shops around were i live. Bay Area
danny- I live in bay area as well and can sugest you at least one place to go that can do the job right for you.
PM me if you like and we can get this mod adventure for you going. I can share everything that I have done to mine and the price of doing the mods as well and how much it will approximately cost you.
