Hello all,

I have my pulley together but I cannot get the new belt back on. I am using the socket and prybar method to no avail. Can pick up tomorrow 5/6/2007. I am in Lombard, IL. Thanks in advance. PM me with offers or respond here.

Hey you are still at it huh? Try the 16 mm socket on the pivot bolt and then put an allen wrench in the little holes where the pin is suppose to go and that will give you something to pry against with a hugh srewdriver. use the biggest allen wrench you can fit in the hole and pry carefully, becareful because it will slip and the the allen wrench may fly out too, the last pully to put the belt on should be one with no lips on the edges.

This is exactly what I have been looking for.... Genius!

It is so hard to find the belt tensioner tool to use.

I want to try this method to install my crank pulley.

After you pry the the pressure with the screwdriver, can you push one of the allen keys further in the hole to lock it in place, holding it open?

Is there any problem with using this method for changing a crank pulley and replacing the belt?

I know this is probably a long shot.... But does anyone have pics of how to do this?

I always get so much help from everybod on this site. Thank You!

when you pry on it , you'll see the spring steel slide up . there will be holes in the spring steel . place a leather awl or small phillips head in the farthest hole you can . this'll give you slack to do the belt .

 

if you are having problems using the pry bar method removing your right front wheel and wheel well can help. It will make it easier for you to position everything before you apply pressure.

^^ the above parts are important. It's how it relieves tension off the tensioner for an extended period of time.
