Signed up for driving school today

I signed up today for the local BMW club driver's school. I'm so psyched!
There is also an autocross school the weekend before. I'm wondering if I should sign up for that as well? I wish they had these offered in the reverse order. I would like to take the regular driver's school first, then the autocross, but not sure if it would really matter. Anyway, I'm counting the days!

autocross first

If you don't have track experience, driving the autocross first is going to be most helpful. You can get a good feel for the car at slower speeds,. Transitioning from one side to the other at 30 or 40 MPH will become comfortable, but it will not be comfortable for you at higher speeds until you get more track experience. The best DE events for novices will include some handling exercises like lane changes, slalom, and emergency braking. Have fun! But do the autocross first.

You're going to have a blast!

I did my first track day last August and now I'm hooked. Which club is hosting?

It's the local (Peachtree) BMW club.
I'm getting a bit nervous...

Annette,
I remember my first DE, I wasn't nervious until I got to the track the day before. I had been to this track a buch of times, but as a spectator. I swear, I almost got in my car a left . I felt that there was no way I belonged "on" that track and I completely doubted I had any ability to drive it. I was exilerated though. The whole experience of just rushing around and making sure I was at the right place at the right time kept my mind of off what I was about to do. I remember riding in my instructors Mini and even doubting myself more. It was raining no less.. .
Well, I have to tell you that once I hit that track behind the wheel of my mini, it all was great. YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST!

BMW is a great club to start with. They know you are a beginer and will expect nothing more.
Have a great time, and let us know how it goes.

Having instructed for Peachtree on a number of occasions, I can honestly tell you run a first-class event. You're in good hands. Just relax and make yourself open to learning. You'll have a blast.

Odds are good I'll be there, too. I'll try to stop by to say Hi.
