Hey S-Driver! Good to hear from you😁
I just bought a 3 day track pass from SCDA for $1149. If you miss the early entry deadline, Lime Rock rate is $439 ($399 for early entry). Compare that to a group like VSCCA which offers 2 days @ LRP for $600. I'll be there with them in early May. I ran the Classic last year, but will be going with the Electric Blue MCS you probably remember from years ago. BMWCCA is also pretty pricy...
Maybe we'll see you there at some point? Are you still working on the pit crew?
Talking about 'trackflation', I noticed that BMWCCA Connecticut chapter charges even more for a day at LRP than SCDA! Also noticed that SCDA has no dates at NY Safety Track this season. Anybody know why?
VeggieVet! Good to see you are still lurking. I will be doing more LRP events on the FCP Euro autox track than on the big track this year. They are half the price, wear the tires and brakes one fourth as much, and are, in their own way, just as much fun. Now that I am fully retired, these things matter. Let us know if you'll be at any of the LRP race events this year.
@S-Driver Still here! Great to hear from you.
You got the price for LRP. WGI for 3 days with GVC is about $1k with Friday being an open track day. Not sure about NYST. It has been a few years since I have gone there.
Yikes! They are some steep prices from what I remember. Add in your consumables and double yikes…..
VV - not doing many events these days with Bimmerworld. The GT3 I was on was not run past ‘23 because sponsor pulled out so that mean I wasn’t needed. The GT4 races they still run are sprint races so no refueling. BUT - I was asked to come back in April to cover for someone who can’t make the 3hr enduro @ COTA so I’ll do that one event this year. I miss doing the full season but also don’t miss doing the full season! Lol..
Glen - plenty of clubs in the area for clay shooting. You can do as many as you want if you’re willing to travel. I just came back from FL for a shoot spread out over 5 days…
Sporting Clays can be fairly expensive as well with a gun purchase, ammo, hotel, entry fees. Nothing that’s fun is cheap I guess…
@S-Driver , the COTA event sounds like fun. Hope it's not too hot down there in TX. I've found one hobby that is cheap and fun...skiing @ Catamount with a weekday season pass. Granted, not a huge mountain by any means, but for $300, I can get my daily cost down below $25 by the end of the season.
At this point I am considering all three half-day events @ LRP, starting with the March 22nd date if the weather cooperates. The other two dates are July 15th and August 9th. Also on the calendar is a possible trip out to WGI on August 18th-19th. They have another two day event in early October, but I don't have room for my snows and track tires in the boot!😉
I asked Elivan if there will be any events at the NYST next season. I'll report back when he responds...
With the relatively warm temps and rain today, I think I'll check in on the track MINI and see how it's doing under cover during hibernation and wax the new wheels I got for the Paceman.
Well, the MCS started right up and sounded great. No evidence of mice. I used a mix of boric acid and peanut butter to kill 'em before they got into the car. Just signed up for two days @ LRP with VSCCA for $585 May 30th/31st. I drove the Classic Mini there last year just to see what it could do, and it was a lot of fun, but I wasn't feeling particularly safe inside that sardine can, so this year I'll do any HPDE days they have with the 02 R53. You guys should check out their events @ www.vscca.org
GKP, I also signed up for their autocross event on Saturday, May 2nd for less than $200...maybe see you there?

Did you get up the uphill in the classic Mini? Must have been a hoot. But I agree on not feeling safe; I barely feel safe sitting in the driveway!
You can do vscca days with Blue? Is that because it's more than 20 years old?
I did have to get out and push it up a couple of times, but once the engine warmed up, it was good to go! 😉 I think my top speed on the front straight was in the 80s! The car slept very well that night...
I think you can run in VSCCA HPDE events with any car. They are desperate for bodies. Hope to see you on the autocross track, GKP! You can even bring a passenger at no extra charge.
Yesterday was a perfect day to 'wake up' the track MINI and give it just a little exercise. Started right up, sounded and felt very good. Looking forward to some track action, but probably not going to do the March 22nd LRP event, as the forecast is not looking favorable for the Nittos. The last thing I want to do is shake out the cobwebs on tires that aren't in their sweet spot temperature-wise. Perfect match with the sky!
That's my time frame as well...SCDA has a full day LRP event on April 21st, and Palmer the week after, both Mondays, running counterclockwise, which is my preferred direction at that track.
It's not so much that I dislike going up the hill, but I like coming down even more! Plus the corkscrew corner before the long straight is much more fun coming downhill!

I agree on the corkscrew but I don't like the blind lefthander at the bottom of the slalom. It's never been comfortable for me and two years ago someone dropped oil on the turn and almost wiped out the entire run group!
Hey, if I am Miniless, am I permitted to continue on this thread? Can I be grandfathered in?
As for dropping oil in a bad place, all of these tracks we go to have a “bad place” to drop oil or antifreeze, for that matter, which I hit at T3 at WGI and a car I was riding hit in T6 at WGI.
