how much nitrous?
how much nitrous?
i am about to pick up an mcs, possibly a jcw edition. what i am wondering is how much nitrous r people running on this motor safely, and what times r they turning with them? i plan on doing the basic upgrades (17%, cai, exhaust, ecu, injectors). thanls for the help guys
I personally wouldnt use it on a stock bottom end. you can run it stock but youll drasticly reduse the engines life expectancy. I would start with the smallest shot say a 50 or 75. you have to remember, the big numbers 150 are for big heavy built for nos cars. you have a small lite weight car, a 50 shot would set you sailing ahead of anyone.
just remember it will generate lots of heat in the engine. I would recomend looking at some websites that specialize in nos. just dont go cheap on the upgrades. it will kill your engine in a secon if not done rite. and i dont know if you ever priced a mini motor before. they are upwards of 5K!

Another thing to consider is whether you're wanting to use a "wet" or "dry" nitrous system. If you don't want the additional cost/plumbing of a wet system, then I would definitely stick with the lower end of the range, like 50 HP.
You *might* be able to get away with a bigger dry shot, since you're also talking about upgrading your injectors, but some of that extra injector capacity is already "spoken for" because of the 17% pulley upgrade.

what other mods have you done to the car so far? do you really need nos?
on average its one of the biggest bang for the buck mods, but the risk you take is pretty hi as well.
what about a workd head and cam. those with some other minor mods will have you screaming at 230-245HP. thats a lot for this little car. youll be hard pressed to be beaten by most any car on the road then

i think i want to look at the dry system with a wot switch and a fuel pressure safety switch just because i dont need to worry about anything. That is what i am running on my current car and it is working great!!
If you get a proven kit like the m7 Venom you won't have to worry about destroying your engine as everyone says. It comes with a computer that regulates the nitrous and shuts the system down if it starts running too lean so it won't do damage. Don't listen to the haters...go for it and have fun!

Since when giving someone advise constitutes hating? Yes you can run NOS without touching the bottom end of the motor. I will guarantee that you will shorten the life of the motor. I never said it would blow up! It is a fact, NOS adds so much more heat and force to a motor, that if not properly prepped it will shorten its life expectancy. Just ask any NOS system rep. Ive spoken to the folks at NOS,Edelbrock,NX and all have confirmed shortened engine life and there is a possibility of engine failure.
