I was looking at using a two bucket system one side for soap and washing and one with fresh clean water to rinse out my sponge. Grit guard maybe enough.

Here is the information on Grit Guard:

Grit Guard is a radial designed insert that fits in the bottom of any 3.5 to 7 gallon bucket and cleans your wash mitt, brush, towel, or other washing utensil.

The whole idea behind Grit Guard is to protect your precious painted surfaces from being scratched.

Grit Guard is a product that simply works - it separates the grit from the mitt.
Grit Guard prevents the swirl marks in your paint, caused by improper washing.

Grit Guard separates the Grit, from the Mitt.
Gives you a Scratch-Free Wash, time after time.
Think of Grit Guard as an "insurance policy" for your paint.

I have it too...I love sitting on it and rolling around while waxing the doors etc.

But now that autopia sells the grit guard separately for ten bucks, I will be getting one and a bucket from home depot for 2-bucket washing.

To apply Hydro is it better to use a microfiber towel or monster fluffy?

I say it doesn't matter as long as they are both a good quality MF but a monster fluffy sure does feel better to hold in your hand

It depends.

Technically, you could use either one. However, the Waffle Weave Drying Towel is optimized for drying while the Monster Fluffy is optimized for buffing. So the best combination is...

Waffle Weave Drying Towel when using Hydro on a wet surface (ie, as wax-as-you-dry spray)

Monster Fluffy when using Hydro on a dry surface (ie, as a quick detail/spray wax spray)

I know, I know...

First I had trouble getting into NAM (for a whole week!). I tried at several different DP computers but couldn't access the site. I heard others had trouble at the same time. I think that was last week?? (I have no sense of time anymore)

Then I had umpteen projects that were "hitting the fan" at the same time so I had no time to check the forum. And then there was the Memorial Day holiday (which we actually took off from work and didn't get near a computer or work for 2 straight days!! )

So sorry I haven't been around though! I hope no one was trying to ask me something to then get nothing in response...

Either way, I'm back now! Good thing too... I was getting serious NAM withdrawal. I missed you guys!!

Welcome Back Heather!!!

Hey Heather, welcome back! It was lonely around here without yoU!

As for back to this thread... you guys can't talk about the Grit Guard, but the Dirt Guard is soooo much better.

https://www.showcardetailing.com/esh...sp?id=65&bc=no

Why do I say it's better?? Because it has a filter that traps particles at the bottom preventing them from floating up in the water.

Uh-oh... Ken is really causing quite a cult following for Hydro! Just don't bathe in it, no matter what Ken tells you.

Welcome to the club, Hydrohead.

I knew Ken was steering me wrong.... So I guess I should stop washing the cat in Hydro as well? Next thing you guys will be telling me is Hydro won't be availble in 55 gallon drums next week.
