Hey Chollomo,
If you're looking for an easy way to protect your finish, check out a product called Durashine. I used it on my 93 Ford Explorer, twice a year for about 7 years and the paint never showed any oxidation and always maintained it's shine. This product probably won't pass muster with the hard-core detailers, but its quick and seems to work.
You can apply it to a wet car, and easy to buff-off. You don't buff, you just hose it off. It's claim to fame is that it doesn't bead-up when wet. The water/rain sheets off.
Its made by the same company that makes DuraLube additives. I bought it at Walmart years ago, and my bro' found it on a "as seen on TV" website.
