Ahhhh...Carnauba...
I was digging through some old pics and came across these. I absolutely LOVE the depth carnauba brings.
Process:
Wash/Dry (Meguiar's NXT wash)
Clay (Meg's again)
Polish (Sonus SFX-1/yellow pad then x2 Sonus SFX-2/white pad)
Klasse
2 coats of P21S Carnauba
Any other carnauba users out there? I know it seems to be falling by the wayside due to polymers lasting longer and looking (almost) as good.

Ya the Klasse lasts forever it seems. It also seems like have Klasse underneath the carnauba makes it last longer. Might just be me though cuz that doesn't actually make much sense
I started doing it because the folks at Autopia recommended the 2 together & I totally agree with them.
Klasse or Epic + P21S Carnauba is also a favorite of mine!
Indeed, although the synthetics are improving in the looks department every day, there is still something unique and beautiful about a carnauba.
In fact, I really prefer P21S all by itself over using it as a topper because I think it is even deeper and warmer looking...
it just isn't very practical to use it solo anymore.

Let me see if I got this straight, apply a coat of Epic then a coat of P21S. I thought carnubas don't cure well to synthetics. I am always up for new ideas. Heather, you know I love the Epic now, are you suggesting applying a carnuba ontop of the Epic?

I'm also using Pinnacle Sovereign along with my regular Zaino routine (usually every other waxing). I do this on my new garage queens, however I'm using just Zaino on the GP since it sits outside, and carnuba doesn't hold up that long in that case. At $75.00 for a small container, I try to use the Pinnacle sparingly.
I too use the sourveign over the Klasse twins
Funny about the cost for sourveign. I was looking at getting some Zymol Glasur ... the kind that melts in your hands to apply by hand and wondered how fast I could go through the sourveign so I could buy that Zymol

Carnauba, you say?
Did you know the eyes of these little suckers...

... are made of carnauba wax?
First-hand experience has shown it takes a whole s#!tload of 'em to wax an entire car. Think I went through six gross. Tough getting the sugar out from underneath some of the moldings, too.

Now see, I didn't even think of that but kenchan did! Kenchan's the racist.
Me, I just love those yellow peeps, but I like them after sitting open for about 3 weeks until they get real crunchewy.
Hurry up Easter!

In contrast, and maybe what you were thinking of, synthetics cannot bond properly to carnauba, like when you apply a synthetic on top of a carnauba. That doesn't work.
So, you can top a synthetic with a carnauba but not a carnauba with a synthetic.
Yes, you can apply a carnauba, like P21S or any of the others, over Epic if you want to change the look a bit. The carnauba will add some warmth and depth to Epic. As most cases though, the addition of carnauba is most dramatic on dark colors. I'd say that in most cases the unique look of a carnauba is hardly evident on light colored cars, whether applied alone or on top of a synthetic.
*Again, just make sure you wait the 24 hour cure time before applying a carnauba over a synthetic. (clock starts as soon as you buff off your synthetic residue)
Last, I should note that often carnaubas will haze over and over and be a bit of a pain if you use it in an intense sun region. In these regions, the sun often heats the carnauba to such high temps that it continuously evaporates in small amounts, causing repeated cloudiness/haziness. You can just buff off the haze with a plush microfiber, but it's something to be aware of b/c it can be a pain.
This is all part of the fun of car care! It's fun to mix and match to get different results and looks.

But first ... I just cant justify it without finishing the Sourveign.
Although we don't sell Zymol on our website (only in our retail store), we're actually planning on clearing out our Glasur. Not because it's not excellent, mind you, but simply because it doesn't sell fast enough compared to the other waxes we sell (plus the Zymol company is a complete pain to work with, quite honestly!). It really is a great carnauba. Also, it smells of coconuts and bananas.
Sooo, I only have 2 left but would be willing to sell them to any NAMer for $15 off the retail price of $95, while supplies last.
So, they'll go to any NAMer for $80 each... first come, first serve!
Just don't tell the people at Zymol... we're not really supposed to sell anything for less than their stated retail price.
You'll have to call or email me to order it since it's not on our website, but just let me know if you're interested. I'll even hold it for you if you're serious but need to wait for your tax refund checks!

that would be nice to try
I am still using griot's carnauba paste wax. definitely a bad idea in winter. Does not work after it gets icy. you need a synthetic if outdoor car like mine. It does protect but how long is it lasting? probably gone if this ice melts and then what? I wont have any protection but it will be too cold to re-apply.
Prima epic stuff would be a better option, then strip it in like mid march and go with carnauba.
Carnauba is by far the best look. I really cant see any argument that proves otherwise. It has a shine when the sun hits it on a angle that is awesome, yet, when you look dead on to it it has a super glow of color and metallic. If i had flat red, black or PW, I would never bother with it probably. The depth of metallic is really the obvious bonus. ps21 or whatever it is called is something I might try this summer as it is much easier to apply I hear and doesnt mess up the black fenders, something that griots paste wax does in a bad way.
