I think once it dries it is impervious to sun temperatures. carnauba i believe has a high melting point. the soft part of it is chemical things that leave the scene once it cures. all carnauba is part synthetic, something OCdood pointed out to me.

No I don't think so. The only thing that "dries" with carnauba is the solvents flashing off. The carnauba remains unchanged.

Is this the same stuff a previous post stated needed body temp to melt before applying?

Perhaps you should re-read Heather's post.

You can just buff off the haze with a plush microfiber, but it's something to be aware of b/c it can be a pain.
Again, it matters not to me what others choose to use, but people should be aware of the facts before they make their selection.

No, as stated above, this is wrong. The only thing actually on the car is a very thin layer of wax that WILL melt off.

That's why I like applying the carnauba over Klasse. I feel I get the protection of Klasse & the beauty of the carnauba. Plus since the carnauba is such a breeze to apply I add a fresh coat bimonthly

carnauba paste melts in your hands because it has materials in the mix that prevent it from hardening.

do you know where carnauba comes from? comes from really hot tropical areas to protect against direct blasting sun for tree leaves!

When the product melts in your hand, it wont if you let oxygen get to it making very strong bonds. a simple wax melts. a molecularly bonded wax with all sorts of synthetics in it and curing agents dries like a rock very quickly. p21s might melt off your car. I dont know what it is made of. griot's paste wont and neither will any regular cheapo canned carnauba. I have been using it for many years in the summertime in hot parking lots where it reaches over 140 degrees on the surface of the car. still is there next time I wash the car and lasts months...

I just looked up some info on melting point of carnauba. it is 181.4 Fahrenheit.

if you pour boiling water on your car, it could melt it. dont do that.

Now, if you factor in curing agents and other additives, it could raise that point higher or at least mess with it making it difficult for it to drip off until much hotter.

Carnauba Melting?

El_Jefe seems to be a good researcher. He is correct regarding additional ingredients to wax formulations containing Carnauba Waxes. Some of the added components are solids with higher melt points which raises the overall final formulation "melt" temp.

Although many auto Wax formulations can be applied with your fingers, they are not melting from heat in your hands during application!

F.Y.I... if ya care

I did a big polish/wax detail on October 6th which included Klasse topped with Carnauba. I noticed decreased water beading & applied a fresh coat of carnauba in mid-January & last week I noticed my water beading was again greatly reduced. I applied a fresh coat of carnauba yesterday. So.... what have I learned? The VOC-compliant new Klasse formula is only lasting around 3 months & the P21S carnauba is lasting around 4 weeks (I do not apply any quick detailer after my weekly washings). I am still in love with the look of the combination of Klasse & P21S carnauba & since it is so easy to apply the carnauba I have no plans to change my regime but in March when I do my next major detail, I plan to try mixing the new Polycharger in my Klasse to see if it increases the length of protection

Wow thanks Nice to know I was on the right track. I have lived with a ink vehicle chemist all of my life (my father). I tend to get the basic ideas of melting points and drying agents.

that's freaky info Bamatt. hm. too bad you arent around here bamatt. it seems we tend to like similar methods of detailing. Yeah, I too have wondered about polycharger. seems interesting right?

did you try that soap that puts in some synth wax or whatever?

Well I will let you know my 1st impressions of the polycharger in March as I plan to use it then. Longevity info will take a bit longer though (I hope a good bit longer )

I use Smart Carwash & it has some kind of polymers in it that provide shine & protection. Not 100% sure what all that is but I love the stuff. According to Smart Carwash:
SmartCarwash is far more than a car wash shampoo; it's a lavish spa experience for your car!

can you add polycharger to p21s? that would be interesting would possibly boost its longevity up a decent amount. Yeah, when im done with griot's wash I am going to use smart carwash. That, combined with griots after wash spray wax, I think would rock.

On their Spray wax: It isnt that fantastic to breath in but it smells really nice. So far, it has made my carnauba paste STILL last past 3 ice/snow storms and outdoor living as I hAve no garage. It extends it farther than they claimed. It really does work. This wash stuff probably does a similar thing, but in my mind, the longer it can last the better. I can always strip and reapply the wax when its warm, but right now, waxing isnt happening for another month it seems.

No polycharger for the P21S because it is a hard brick of wax not liquid. I wish I could add it though
