Applying Amigo and Epic

Sorry I don't know why my post didn't come up the way it should have and it got posted twice. Here is what it was supposed to say. Please HELP!
I just recieved my amigo and Epic. Now my question is what speed should I apply the Amigo and Epic and what pads. I have the meguiars polishing pads and finishing pads and also detailers paradise orange and white pads. I am thinking of using the orange pad with the Amigo at speed five and the meguiars finishing pad with the Epic at speed 3-4. Does that sound right. Any information would be great. Hopefully Heather will chime in cause she is GREAT. Also you Richard aka OcatneGuy, love your work. Thanks in advance.

I believe Heather is travelling now and won't be back until next week. I know the snow storm in Colorado caused a lot of delays for them, so she probably won't be responding to this right now.
As for your question, you will have to experiment with Amigo. There are some situations where Amigo works wonderfully and others that aren't satisfactory. I'm still trying to learn how to use it well. Its' been hit and miss for me in terms of performance.
Any time you apply a wax, you always want to use speed 3 with the W9006 finish pad. You aren't removing defects, so a faster speed isn't helpful. Also you only need the weight of the machine--don't press down on the buffer head for the same reason--you aren't removing defects and the finishing pad is very soft.
I would try Amigo with the DP pads since I haven't been all that happy with it on the Meguiar's pads. Have you seen their PDF on their pad to chemical usage? I know it's posted around here, but I also found it on the DP website.
Remember that Amigo is a super fine polish. So fine, that it really relies on the aggressiveness of the pad choice to cut. So Amigo will remove very light swirls and fill in others. Yesterday I buffed out a 2007 black Z06 Corvette which was extremely scratch sensitive--so much that just wiping off the polish or wax residue left fine swirls and scratches. Amigo worked well in these spot areas for me, but I didn't like it over the entire car. I know I'm going to get questions on this, so I'll just say that different paints react to Amigo differently and in my case I preferred using Amigo on small spots.

Thanks for the reply Richard. I spoke to you on the phone a couple of weeks ago and got you confused with the guys in Arizona who sells the meguairs products, his name is Rick I believe. Don't know if you remember talking to me, but we got to talking about my micromarring and what to use and not to use. Well I took your advice and did my black MINI and black Mercedes with the M80 and then the tech wax on top. WOW what a difference. The Mini I did 2 coats of the M80 and the Mercedes needed 3 coats but it was well worth the time put in. I finally recieved the PRIMA line products and just wanted to make sure i use the right pads with the right product. I spoke to Heather when I purchased the produts but I wanted to double check before I started applying. I appreciate your info about the AMIGO. What about the Epic, do you like it, how do you comapre it to the tech wax? I will post pics of my car after the PRIMA line. I wish it was spring time here already so I can start making some money. Me and my brother detail cars on the side for some extra cash. This is like a hobby for us. We have been waxing cars since we were little kids. Have to thank my Dad for that I guess. I agree with you about the M80, it is not too aggressive and not to fine, this speed glaze I believe is worth its weight in gold. For those people out there that want to get rid of swirls easy and safely, I highly recommend the Meguiars M80 and Richards DVD on how to use the Porter Cable.

Of course I remember. I'm glad M80 and the DVD has worked well for you. I really love Epic. I'm almost out, so I ordered a quart of it.
It goes on and comes off very easily with the PC.
I haven't used Tech Wax in awhile, since I liked #21 so much more. But the biggest drawback of #21 is separation which causes unevenness which is visible on black paint. Epic doesn't have that problem, so that's why I love it--all the properties and benefits of #21 without the drawbacks.
That's great you're going to detail cars for money.
