My MINI detailed...

I worked on my own MINI this past weekend! I have been too busy lately to care for it like I should, but finally set aside a time to work on it!

Process was:

Wash with Gold Class
Clay with Final Inspection and Griots Clay
Spot polish with Meguiars #83 #8006 on Speed 5 on G100 PC
Polish with Meguiars #80 #8006 on Speed 5 on G100 PC
Show car Glaze #7 (Meguiars)
A couple coats of #21 (Meguiars)
A couple coats of NXT Tech Wax
A Coat of P21S Pure Carnauba Paste Wax just because I like applying paste wax...

And of course, the images:

NICE pictures! Beautifully detailed. I hand-washed my car today but was too lazy to do anything more than that.

Is that jet black?

Great looking car. I never thought to 'spot' polish, but it sounds like a good time saver. I am assuming you used a more aggressive polish to do that?
( not familiar with Meguiars numbers )

Looks awesome. I thought my mini comes out good when I clean it, but you just sealed the deal. I guess i need to get the porter cable buffer. How hard is it to use connor? I am in the detailing business also but I like to apply the waxes by hand, but you just convinced me to get the random buffer. Keep up the good work.

It's stupidly simple and safe... I've used one twice and I'm totally hooked. Get help the first time, or look around for the detailing DVD available from Octaneguy just to be sure, but it really is a wonderful tool... It buffs very, very well and appliex wax so much thinner and more evnely than I can by hand.

one more question, how do you know what polishe to use first to remove swirls, that is my main concern. I like the mothers reflections polish as a top coat so what i really need is a nice wax that can remove swirls with the porter cable. Any suggestions? I really don't understand all the numbers by Meguiars, can you explain that too, or anyone else who has an idea that would like to help?

Peter, check THIS THREAD - it should give you all you need to get started. I think I asked every n00bish question in the books there... so YOU won't have to! That's me all over... taking one for the team like that.

I tkink the only update I'd make to that thread is that Detailers Paradise also now offers a nice PC kit with pads... See HERE for more details. Other people swear by the Griot's RO kit, and I have to say that I've loved using it... Google "Griot's Garage" for more details...

Glad to hear you liked the Griots RO machine, ImagoX. I just asked Santa to bring me one for Christmas. In fact, made it the number 2 most-wanted item on my list (right behind the checkered rearview mirror cap). If I'm really good, maybe I'll get both.

Hope Santa reads this thread.
